PS3 Or X360 ?

As of yesterday (or maybe it is 2 days ago now) the PS3 can stream netflix without the dvd.  that evens the playing field a little more, or in my eyes widens the gap of PS3 over Xbox.

Also, Comparing both systems implementation of netflix, 360 does have a leg up, they aren't identical. The 360 currently allows party viewing, which means you can watch a movie with your friends over xbox live and chat during the movie, which is great so I can hang out with my friends all over the country and watch a movie.

I don't know if it's just because I have my PS3 running wireless and my 360 connected directly, it shouldn't be, but the PS3 netflix takes a lot longer to load and runs slower in general.

Both are aesthetically different, not sure which I prefer, but the lack of features has prevented me from spending too much time with the PS3

Totally agree, that'd be cool if you have friends. I know my brother has friends on PS3, I barely have any (he plays it more than I do).

360 hands down. You have to watch it in a web browser on PC, yes it can go full screen, but meh. Also no party feature. It's just a lot simpler and easier on console. I'm pretty sure the party feature will stay 360 exclusive as live is the one hosting it, not netflix.

Reasons not to purchase a PS3 . . .

1. It's made by the Nazi's at sony

3. Unless you have a 1080p HDTV, 1080p support really is not a valid selling point.

5. PSN is rather empty, and has very little to offer, and odd ball exclusives don't really make up for a complete lack of content.

8. The vast majority of games on the PS3, are also available on the XBOX 360, and some also on the PC.


Reasons to buy a PS3  . . .

1. PSN is free, because they charge the content providers, so that PSN is free to end users.

2. Polished interface, and high definition audio and video support.

3. A hand full of quality games, and some more to come ( God of War 3 ).

4. Has a lot of the same games as the XBOX 360.





Reasons not to buy an XBOX 360 . . .

1. Somewhat unreliable I.E. the Red Ring of Death ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_technical_problems ).

2. XBOX live costs money for full access.

3. XBOX live is ugly and unpolished.

4. Lack of 1080p support for the non elite models.


Reasons to buy an XBOX 360 . . .

1. XBOX live has a large amount of content to offer.

2. A large amount of exclusive titles that are worth playing, also exclusive franchise, like Halo, Forza, Gears of War, Left 4 Dead, Crackdown, ect.

3. A much larger game library than the PS3.

4. Microsoft has acknowledged the problem of the RRoD ( Red Ring of Death ) , and has a support program in place to help with RMA, and official failure rates are 3-5 % which is average for electronics.

5. More variety in models available, you can purchase a basic XBOX 360 for 200 dollars, and add a HD to it as you get more money.

6. Has almost all the same games the PS3 has.

7. A large online community, so playing games online is always an option.


These are the Pros and Cons as I see it. Also before people come and flame me let me say that I own both. I also own a Wii, and very expensive gaming PC. And to be honest the CONSOLE i get the most use out of is the XBOX 360, that's not to say I don't enjoy playing some killzone2 online, just the complete lack of games is a big downer.

You've been unlucky, the RRoD rates are 3-5% which is normal for electronics. Also at least when your XBOX RRoD's because of a design flaw from Microsoft, they don't charge you $150 to fix your bricked console, thats their fault ( http://www.gamespot.com/news/6239189.html?sid=6239189&part=rss&subj=6239189 ).
Sony constantly touting Blu-Ray is a joke, and though it may be more powerful, it's notoriously difficult to program for, which is why there is and always will be a huge lack of exclusive content.

well, Gow1&2 is being upgraded slightly for PS3, so I don't know if I'd discount it, but it's definitely not something to tote as an exclusive. And MGS4 IS exclusive. so it does count.

Not sure who you used for rankings though. I got slightly different results looking at different average sights, but none that had all the games you listed for in the 90 percentile range.

As for the whole fanboy for each console drop that please. People have their opinions. As for the people who are acting like "fanboys", just drop it also. Some of you actually are acting like "fanboys" especially those of you that haven't even experienced the other consoles and are talking trash about it. You guys are arguing over nothing and aren't even doing any justice to both consoles IMO. Both consoles are great and are enjoyable. Just depends on YOUR preference nothing more. So just place your opinions in to help the thread and then be done with it. Place your pros and cons of the consoles you HAVE experienced with. The fact of you talking about a console you haven't even experience is like you talking about air.

Exclusives don't mean nothing unless you actually enjoy them also -.- So quit with the whole 360 has more or ps3 has more. Doesn't mean shit squat unless the person enjoys them all or actually gets them. All I see now is you trying to prove others what is better based off YOUR opinions and listings when that is based off your preference and not others.

Games that are on both consoles will come down to the person's preference also. Such as mine with MW2, I like the 360 controllers a lot better and the online of xbox 360 since I hate disconnecting and having lag spikes so much.(I played the ps3 MW2 at a friends for a good 4hrs to try to get a hold of it and just didn't like it.) I have to say though that I prefer the graphics of the ps3 than the 360 for MW2 because the littlest difference makes a big change especially in a FPS. Not saying 360 has bad graphics, but that little difference in the graphics makes a difference.

For me I Have a 360 and I enjoy it a whole lot because I enjoy FPS which IMO better on the 360 and I like playing online which is a lot better than the ps3. PS3 might be free, but paying for xbox live is guaranteeing that you will have connection and no lag spikes or disconnections.

I've gone through thing thread a few times and have disagreed with a lot that is said and just ignored it. By the way RRoD is still around just not as active as it was before. The rate of a RRoD actually happening now a days is slim to none. Only place that is having problems is in England from what I have heard and read.

There is 2 different RRoD also by the way. RRoD error which just happens because of interruptions when the console is reading the disk or while back when the avatar feature was added on(which should of been fixed by now). RRoD which fully screws up over is because of just chips in the xbox that has things in it that you need a microscope to see which is needed to be fully removed. How Microsoft fixed this was just replacing a whole chip or they gave you a new xbox(I placed a signature in the inside of the faceplate and was gone when I got new one).

I've experience RRoD with only 1xbox out of the 6 I have.(2 are my cousin's, 3 are mine, 1 that is my nephews.) Mine was the one that got the RRoD since it was first generation. Why do I have so many xboxs? Only 2 left and 1 is broken, I got the second one because of the free 250GB HDD, and its the MW2 edition. Also because my first one is the one I carry around a lot to friend's place or something. Point is that I enjoy the xbox and have only experience the RRoD problem once ever. So to me the whole RRoD shouldn't be included as a problem with the 360 anymore. Only time it would be placed in is if you are extremely bad luck.

Either way choose based off what types of games you enjoy and what you prefer. When it comes down to it both consoles are great, but your liking and disliking will change that factor fully. What matters is your opinion no one else's. You don't even need to take my opinions if you don't want to. Just here to give out my opinion and experience.

By the way don't look at manufactures because honestly if you wanna go on that route you'll be disappointed with a whole lot.(Examples:Microsoft and Sony.)
Manufactures is just a name doesn't actually say nothing about performance of the consoles. Microsoft might own xbox, but doesn't mean they do the work to make it. Same goes for Sony and Play Station. All the Manufactures do is give the money to actual people who work on the consoles to make the consoles. Then they place their name on it since they are the reason why the console is there.

Anyways that is my 10cents of opinions. For those who are going to flame go ahead. Just remember you are fighting a pointless battle. When all this is suppose to be a recommendation thread and its to give pros and cons of the consoles to help the thread starter make a decision.

I just got a YLOD, on my PS3, called sony, and guess what it's a known issue. Okay so I asked if they knew how to fix it, they told me yes. I say okay kool I'm going to send it in. They said okay kool send us a 150 dollars.

I've found a guy in Orange County than will do the repairs for $110 it'll cost me $10 in gas and about 5 hours of my day. Still cheaper and faster than sony.

At least Microsoft stepped up to the plate and chose to take care of the customers that suffered from RROD. Sony will help you but only for $150 and you get to wait 3 weeks.
