PS3 Or X360 ?

PC, Pwns All, End Of.  ;D

But Between a ps3 and sexbox360, be ps3 for me been a Sony fan for a long long time, as Sony a Japanese company it will allways have rights with most rpgs that i love Final Fantasy ect, not the biggest fan of Microsoft as ive spent too many hour nerd raging at windows. Plus the ps3 for me looks nicer, controls are not as bulky as the 360 and so far no red ring of death for my ps3 haha.  ::)

Xtras:
I gotta agree with Tatsujin that the PS3 absolutely smokes the 360 at all the hardware fronts, and does playback/media center stuff better.

For me though, I love Gears of War. I love Fable. I love a lot of old Xbox titles that are backwards compatible on the 360.

--- Quote ---It's just that the programs suck at making/porting shit to the PS3.

Sad but true... no justice is done to the PS3.

Conclusion: Is the PS3 a better Console? Yes. Did Sony do a hell of a lot better job than microsoft? Yes. Is the price difference pretty small now? Yes.

Still, I'd still go with a 360. LIVE is much better. A lot of downloadable games for the 360 have a lot of charm. My friends and I are pretty connected through Xbox Live. It is like Xfire for us. I really like the 360 exclusives, with more to come soon.

However do take into account that my predominant bias is due to the fact that I already have an excellent Sony Bluray player, and my classmates and I just chat and stuff over our 360's. It might not be as great an experience for everyone, but it is not accurate to say that the 360 is totally useless, like a lot of people will imply.

Now this I would agree with but for one exception. Look at Crysis Warhead and Spore. Install limits, Securom and general half-assed ness by the companies are killing this market. Gears 2 isn't being released on PC due to fear of pirates (at least that was the the bs they said).

--- Quote from: Xtras on November 08, 2009, 01:23:58 AM ---PS3 IS NOT BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE!!! If it was then the 360 can't compete. There is only one backward compatible PS3 and that is the uuber rare 60gb version which they stopped making. Even if you can get your hands on one, it will likely fail on you.

--- End quote ---
Actually, there were 3 models that had backwards compatibility. The two launch consoles, 20 GB and 60 GB, had 100% backwards compatibility via hardware emulation. Meaning they literally had PS2 hardware in them in order to run PS2 games. Then, the second release of the console, 80 GB (Which is the one I have), dropped the hardware emulation in favor of software emulation. This unfortunately meant that the system was no longer 100% backwards compatible, and could only emulate about 75% of PS2 games. The second model of the second release (40 GB) was the first console to lose all backwards compatibility. From this point on, any and all PS3 releases dropped PS2 backwards compatibility.

All consoles actually do have PS1 backwards compatibility through software emulation.

Fine, if you would like me to tear apart your argument, then I will. But I would like to note before I start that it is apparent, especially by your eloquent way of stating things and the amount of sheer opinion that your argument is based on, that the majority of your statements are pure fanboyism.

--- Quote ---Don't come in here try to compete the 360 against the PS3 in terms of entertainment. Yea, we got Netflex or whatever it's called. Besides the fact that it can play Blu-ray. Can the 360 do that? Fuck no, and it will never be able to since Microsoft hate on the PS3 and Sony.
--- End quote ---
First of all, it's Netflix. And Netflix is completely badass. However, this is no longer something that Microsoft can tote over Sony, as Netflix is coming to the PS3. It is also probably coming to the Wii as well.

Secondly, I'm just going to copy and paste my argument from before and expand on it. Bluray is way overhyped. It's nice, but it's not worth the cost. I say this as a movie geek that loves watching 1080p video on his 50" plasma.  Bluray movies are nice but I'm not going to pay an extra $10 for each movie I buy, or an extra $4/month to rent them from Netflix. When the price comes down, it will be worth it. But don't expect it to happen any time soon. This is because Bluray is cartridge based. This makes the discs extremely expensive to produce in comparison to the less than a penny DVDs. Really, I expect better HD Digital content to expload and become worth it in price before Bluray gets cheap. DVD is soooooo much cheaper and the better compression of recent years since blurays development has put DVD in a lot better comparison that it used to be, in terms of games. The extra space of Bluray is nice for a developer, but a good developer will be good enough with compression techniques that it won't really matter all that much. There aren't many multi-disc 360 games currently, and I won't worry until they start to become more prevalent.

--- Quote ---Another thing, whomever the fuck said the PS3 has little exclusive content. Dude, go fucking bang your head against the wall. PS3's exclusives are above and beyond the 360's. What does the 360 have? Halo, Gears, what else? Shooters, thats it? Paying money to get exclusives yet we still get them after a year with extra content? Uh hello there Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean 4!
--- End quote ---
That's like, your opinion, man. If you prefer to think that the PS3 exclusives are better, great. But you should at least recognize that the 360 houses a LOT more than just FPSs in terms of exclusivity. Your failure to do so shows your unfamiliarity with the other platform and thus severely hurts your argument. How can you state that all their exclusives suck if you don't know what the titles are. The truth is both systems have a lot of great exclusives. I own many of the PS3's and most of the 360's. Great NON-FPS exclusives for the 360 include racing (Forza Motorsport, Project Gotham Racing), Horror (Condemned: Criminal Origins, Dead Rising), RTS (Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars & Kane's Wrath, Halo Wars), RPG (Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Too Human, Magna Carta II, Fable II), Mech (Chromehounds, Mech Warrior), action (Splinter Cell: Conviction, Alan Wake, Crackdown, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, Earth Defense Force 2017, N3: Ninety-Nine Nights, Saints Row, GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City), sim (Viva PiƱata), Flight sim (Ace Combat 6), Fighting (Dead or Alive 4, Naruto: Rise of a Ninja & Broken Bond), and various other types (Scene It?). This is of course, just some of the exclusives I didn't list some sequels, and as you weren't interested in them, I didn't list the great FPS exclusives that exist.

--- Quote ---Let's not forget about the shit failure you get on the 360's hardware. RRoD FTW guys!

--- End quote ---
RRoD was definitely a major problem for Microsoft, however, they did handle it in a great way. They extended the warranty coverage for consoles that experience RRoD to 3 years. The problem is now virtually non-existent in newer consoles, so someone looking to purchase a new system shouldn't even consider it as an issue.

--- Quote ---360's games aren't superior to the PS3 (non-exclusives). It's just that the programs suck at making/porting shit to the PS3. Uncharted 2, GoW III, Killzone 2, MGSIV and many other exclusives speak for themselves. Here's one more thing to add, the 360's anti-aliasing from the graphic cards is superior to the PS3's, but it's not as powerful as the PS3. Specifications can be found on Wikipedia, Google too.
--- End quote ---
If a program sucks at "porting shit to the PS3," then clearly you are admitting that some PS3 versions ARE inferior. There are in fact a large number of developers that absolutely hate developing for the PS3, because that cell processor you brag about is a bitch to program for. Perfect example being Bayonetta, just released in Japan. The Xbox 360 version received a 40/40, while the PS3 version received a 38/40. This is because Platinum Games (the developer) decided to hand off development for the PS3 to another team, someone from Sega, because they didn't want to have to deal with it.

--- Quote ---Fucking thread. I hope it gets locked.

I hate the 360 for one mother fucking thing, it's Microsoft and they suck at doing their shit. Besides that, Halo, Gears and it's other exclusives can go cry-cry to them.
--- End quote ---
Thanks for being mature. See above about exclusives

--- Quote ---IMO, get both if you can. Otherwise, go with the PS3 because it delivers more. Our exclusives are far better and beyond than the 360.

FF Versus XIII
God of War III
Uncharted 2 (and 3)
Killzone 2 (and 3)
Resistance I, II (and 3)
Little Big Planet
MotorStorm games
Heavenly Sword
Infamous
Quantum Theory
Heavy Rain
MAG
Valkyria Chronicles (RPG players NEED to play this)
GT5
MGSIV
--- End quote ---

UNRELEASED AND NO GUARANTEE OF QUALITY: FF Versus XIII, God of War III, Heavy Rain, MAG, Quantum Theory, GT5
Actually Good: Uncharted 2, Little Big Planet, MotorStorm, Infamous, Valkyria Chronicles, MGSIV
FPSes WHICH YOU CLAIM ARE BULLSHIT AND DON'T MATTER WHEN MICROSOFT HAS THEM EXCLUSIVELY: Killzone 2, Resistance I, II
mediocre at best: Heavenly Sword

And here is the list of 360 exclusives as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Xbox_360-only_games

--- Quote ---This probably won't interest so many people, but White Album visual novel is coming to the PS3, exclusively, 1080p with very nice features. It's in Japanese, yet I'm still purchasing it (should be out this year around Christmas, hopefully).
--- End quote ---
you're right, it doesn't interest most people. And it's probably a Japan only release. Media content doesn't release for all regions.

--- Quote ---If your talking about pictures, music, and video playback excluding Blu-ray, the PS3 excels at it more than the 360.
--- End quote ---
Not really, Both systems are quite capable of playing all major media, especially with some tweaking. Media playing on the TV is media playing on TV. The PS3 doesn't really do anything special here.

--- Quote ---CELL > Xenon was it? Lol.
--- End quote ---
This is definitely up for a lot of debate. The PS3 architecture is very different from the Xbox 360 Architecture and are based on very different ideas. That said, a lot of people (including myself and my professors) feel that the Cell architecture is mostly overrated.  That's not to say that it sucks, but it's not going to be the future and it by no means blows the 360 processor out of the water

--- Quote ---RSX > Xenos ... was it? Lol.
--- End quote ---
you said it yourself earlier, that the 360 is better at anti-aliasing. The PS3 card is only 50 Mhz faster. However the 360 has 512 MB of shared ram between the processor and GPU while the PS3 only allows for 256 for each. While the totals are the same, the 360's allows for better flexibility.

--- Quote ---Blu-ray > DVD ... Oh hey, whatever happened to HD-DVD?!  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( Blu-ray .... crushed it?  :D
--- End quote ---
I don't really think this reflects on the 360 at all. Yes, the 360 had an attachment drive. But it was an accessory, and it had nothing to do with the games. Also, HDDVD is kicking Blurays ass in China, not that it matters. Just thought it was interesting.

--- Quote ---Btw, not all games require you to install on HDD on the PS3. Not the new ones. Besides that, you can always delete and install others.
--- End quote ---
didn't say you had to, but it is quite annoying. I'd be fine with it if it got rid of load times. But it doesn't, they are just as long as you'd expect.

--- Quote ---Oh yea, you can upgrade to 500GB for like 90 dollars? WD too.

What's the maximum space AND price tag on the 360?! .... THOUGHT so ...
--- End quote ---
actually, the initial hard drive sizes of both systems are the same right now. And you can also upgrade the 360's hard drive as well if you want. I admit it's not as easy as replacing the PS3's, but it is possible. That said, both systems come with ample space, and if you can stream media to them, I don't see much of a point of having a massive hard drive in the first place.

--- Quote ---Bullet facts. Enjoy the sheets. Google is your best friend. -raises flameshield- Bring it, bots. Argument was valid enough. You suck at reading and comprehending.

I'm back here, and edited the previous post.
--- End quote ---
Like I stated earlier, I think I've shown that majority of your arguments are unabridged fanboyism. I'm not saying that the PS3 sucks by any means. It's a nice system. But if one had to choose between the two of the systems, I would recommend the 360, and it would be nice if you could at least recognize many of the valid points that others are making instead of being a complete asshole. Take your blinders off and don't attack something that you yourself have admitted knowing nothing about. All it does is further show that you don't know and it makes you appear to be nothing but a fanboy.

You don't have any experience with the 360 and yet continue to rage and froth at the mouth at the mere mentioning of someone actually liking the 360 and recommending it to someone else? What is this i don't even

Way to be a raging Sony fanboy.  ::) (this coming from a person who wants a PS3 very very badly  :-\ Fuck you Sony and your awesome console system :'()
