iTouch - specifically suggestions for video converters for itouch.

Hi All,

I was given a 64GB iTouch a few weeks ago when my mother popped back from overseas (ahaha lucky me ) anyway i cannot seem to add my anime/yaoi/video files onto it.

I was told that i might need a converter as despite having the applications on my itouch like VLC to play all media files it only plays mpeg format.
How fucking insulting Apple!

Does anyone know of a quick converting software i can use to get around this? My sister and i were using one (i cant remember the name) but it literally took HOURS for one file.

Any help from other apple users would be appreciated. Bitching about apple need not apply to thread.

Converting videos will always take a long time, unless you happen to have a supercomputer which is also capable of predicting weather.

In any case, if iTunes is shitting you, there is some 3rd party software you can use to put music on your iPod, but I'm unsure whether it works with the newest ones. The only one I know of is through a plug-in in foobar.

i was most displeased when i realised my video files wouldnt add to my video library. Its fucking annoying. They encourage you to install apps able to play multiple formats but wont let you put other formats onto the device. Sucks balls imo.

I tend to use Handbrake. It has options within its settings to optimise for various sized ipods, and you can queue videos on it, and leave it be converting them

This one wasn't bad. Though I had issues trying to get stuff to my cowon. (I gave up and used the space for .flac instead. 8GB only goes so far....)

Though isn't there another decent one called, "_____topsp" or something?

Just make sure the converted videos fall into the iTouch's specs:

H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

Thats what I meant by Handbrake has settings specifically for ipods and iphones in there.

SUPER converter works wonders if its not external subbed files has presets for ipods

when it comes to video converting i always use " Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate "
the last version -IMO- was a sucess it can convert almost Anything !!

i think it takes sometime to convert files using it !

Get mediacoder it support cuda (gpu decoding of h264, perfect for iPod).
Manu options but may be confusing for new user.

I watch a great deal of anime on the train on my iPhone, it takes only minutes to set up Handbrake at night to convert what I need for the next morning and I've NEVER had a video converted by Handbrake not work on my iPhone.

You can select audio tracks, subtitle tracks (though honestly, subtitles are not the easiest thing to read on an iPhone) and customize beyond the presets for the iPhone/iTouch, though in all honesty, if you're using it for that purpose, just use the presets.

Depends on the subtitles to begin with. Some are nice and easy to read and some are horrible. (I use an Ipod Classic so my screen is even smaller)

Most do not.. I know dattebayo uses hard subs...
