Wireless mouses fucking suck for gaming.  Replacing batteries is annoying.  They rattle like a toddler's toy.

I'm with Tatsujin - G5 forever!  Seriously, the damn thing is built so well that I think a future interface change is the most likely reason why I'd stop using it.
+over 9000!

Once you go G5, you never wanna go back to the other crappy mice.

I've got Z-board. I kid you not, I broke about 7 or 8 keyboards back when I used to be a PhotoShop whore and D2-holic. I broke the space bars so many times. I've had Z-board for about 4-5 years. I've hit the keys hard couple of times and even the space bar many times. Nothing broke yet -knocks on wood-

Oh, forgot to mention the buttons it has. Not too many buttons, but enough for gaming and other useful programs.

Oh, but the MX Revolution free-scroll wheel is so good though. I never realise how completely addicted I am to it until I'm using another mouse :x

"Keep rolling, dammit! Why won't you free-scroll to the top of the page? Damn wheel!"
I just press gg.  Thank you, vimperator.

Home key works as well, but I still prefer the scroll wheel method. Doesn't require me to shift focus to the keyboard, and once you get a feel for free-scroll mode it's easy to navigate to anywhere on a long page with wheel-flick of appropriate strength. Scrolling momentum and resistance are all tunable, although it has to be done through Logitech's software.

I hate wireless stuff i go for wired mouses and keyboards
Wireless<3

Last wired mouse I owned died from my rage, Threw it at wall and hit it against the desk until the wire came out.
wireless mouse's cant do that  ;)
Hmm, Mikan is back. Presumably that means she's found food and lodging someplace, or at her dad's. No more need for concern, I guess?

I'd think about getting a trackball, if I wasn't so hopelessly addicted to that scroll wheel.

My Logitech MX300 which I got back in 2003 for ~$20 (with today's conversion rates) still works perfectly. I love the shape, it has a scroll wheel and three easy-to-reach buttons and responds fine. I use it for both my desktop and laptop.

While I have a G15 keyboard for my desktop, I really don't see the point of an expensive 'gaming' mouse. The only major differences in my opinion are the mousemats. I prefer plain, flat ones at that. As long as it's optical and has a wire attached, you'll survive.

As for losing my mouse pointer, that's only happened when fullscreen programs sometimes cause the mouse to disappear from screen, and I wave it about until it reappears. Haven't lost a visible pointer yet, luckily.

And how the hell can you destroy your mice? If you keep throwing them at walls or something, you seriously need to consider working on your anger management. Sounds completely retarded to me.

Hmm? My mice just wear out from wear and tear.  Also, since I'm at college, I tend to have to pack them up in my backpack quickly and head out somewhere. So far, the problem I'm noticing with most of them is the left clicker. It just starts getting to where you have to click a certain way (as in, press down in this spot instead of this one), eventually. (mind you this is after like a year or so). It's probably due to the rough handing while I'm heading around campus.

As for my mice, I just use generic ones. Whatever's the cheapest. Right now, I happen to have two of these.. Though, the ones I have are actually older versions of that mouse. I can play Wolfenstein ET quite fine with them. I may be losing out on a bit of accuracy here and there, but I honestly don't care, since I'm good enough at it regardless.

I also have this little portable corded mouse that came with my ASUS laptop. That one wore out after about 10-11 months of use (hardcore shooting games inside classrooms, etc.). >_>;

... On that note, why has this topic suddenly went into mouse discussion? Originally wasn't it about losing your pointer............ ..

Cute, huh?

Back on subject!!

I barely use my mouse, Everything is nearly hot-keyed on my keyboard. but of course cant lug that around.  Mouses annoy meh alot.
I got some free mouse from bestbuy that I actually hit with a hammer when I got pissed and ripped half the usb cable out and it still works like new :3 LOL DYNEX.

except, on my gateway (older laptop) whenever I use a mouse the pc lags instantly, and when I pull it out its fine. ebilness.

You *do* realize that computers behave better when you don't go around destroying them, right?  Treat 'em right and they'll never let you down.

Didn't she say something about breaking 6 PS2s and a PS3?  I don't think the poor girl has any control over her destructive powers.

She needs her devices built to MILSPEC specifications. Probably could use a Toughbook, too (guaranteed monkey-proof!)

I have a G7 and it's great. It doesn't rattle unless you are shaking it in the middle of the air, not many games require you to do that :D. Changing batteries does become a pain but they charge fairly quickly. Also, if you change them before you start gaming they don't run out unless you game for 7 hours without pause.
As for the original topic when my mouse runs out of batteries I lose track of the pointer :P. Moving objects generally are easier to notice :).

I never lost it and I don't use an external mouse, since I don't play games on my MBP. Thus, I'm using the multitouch trackpad. Very comfortable to use, very good reaction time and very precise for a touchpad. One of the best touchpads I've ever used.

Fuck your mice.

I use a Logitech wireless optical trackball.

<3 it.

The linear nature of your Euclidean geometry both confounds and befuddles me.

I admittedly didn't read even half of the previous posts.

If you lose your pointer, move it to one of the corners. For most computers moving it to the upper left corner makes it easy to find. If that doesn't work, move the mouse a little bit away from that corner. If you still can't find it...well.

I rarely loose my mouse, but, I also rarely use it too unless i'm playing games.  Keyboard > Mouse.  But if i'm lazy i'll use it to navigate around a bit.  Maybe when I upgrade the mouse again i'll think differently

Oh and +1 for G5 Logitech, one of the best mice ever!
I have typed these words and you have been forced to read them.  Now you can go cry in the corner if you like :)
