Batman: Arkham Asylum
« on: November 12, 2009, 09:08:27 AM »
Best money ever given out. I don't regret my buy even for one second.

I've heard it was a pretty good game, but this good? Holy carp. I skiped German classes and sat up to 2am on a school night. I've been to just about every class so a little skipping shoudn't hurt. ;D

Ah, can't seriously not wait for the weekend. I'm currently on Normal mode and that's not very hard so I'll try Hard when I finish the game, I hope that'll take a while. A length just as Doom 3 would be very nice, and even more would be better.

I'm using my new laptop and it's loving this game, it's able to turn on everything, everything. I've never been able to do that. And it looks so goddamn awesome. The graphics are great. The battle system is wonderful. And the storyline is just awesome, plus, the part where you assault bad guys from the gargoyles. There has been few games which has been able to impress me this much. Half-Life 2 series being some of the few others.

Seriously guys/girls ( ;)), if you have the time, the money and the computer, get Arkham Asylum. You won't regret it. Being able to control Batman this smoothly and being able to kick ass this great is awesome. I've seen af few people on Steam talking about a sequel and I agree, as long as it's as good as this game or even better.

Also, if you don't want to be disliked, please put the storyline in spoilers. It would be too bad if I can't discuss it until I finish the game. Seriously, do it.

I have it for the PC and it's pretty epic. I've loved Batman since I was a kid and playing this game was a real treat. It's like God of War + Metal Gear Solid... with ice cream!

Spoiler for the game. For safety reasons, don't read unless you've beat the whole game.

I finally beat the game in Normal mode, it's not very hard. Joker was a bit messy until I got the hang of him. I thought the game would be a bit longer since my progress only was at 58%, but I guess the remaining possible % was things you could accomplish in the game.

Now for some other games and maybe Arkham Asylum in Hard Mode, though I probably won't get far. Bane was being a bitch last I fought him in Hard. Yes, really, I didn't get much further than that.

A wonderful game which only flaw was that it didn't last longer. Oh well, I sincerely hope there's a sequel, though it needs to be done as good or even better.

The game's flaw was that it introduced so many villans out of which you fight...uhm 4-5?

I don't know if he was at the time when Joker was imprisoned, but I found his cell,so...
And my numbers were correct.Technically speaking you only fight Bane,Joker and Poison Ivy.With Croc is just a run,Scarecrow just made illusions,Harley Quinn just sent thugs and Zsazs was down with one move.Twice.

Well,I didn't blame them for their diversity, but I do blame them for lack of characters.

I totally enjoyed the 1.1 patch, that gave me physx support. It added sooooooooo much to the atmosphere, I played it through a second time. I also rented it for the PS3 for the whole "exclusive content" and it really wasn't as great as it was made to be, just another sales gimmic by sony.

AWESOME!! Best news of the year! It looks really, really great! Though I am a bit unsure how Joker escaped, once again. Nonetheless, I have faith in Rocksteady to make it an epic game. I really need to save up to this game so I can buy it the minute it gets on Steam!

I hope there's tons of new Gameplay and that Paul Dini is once again in charge of the manuscript. That and the great Gameplay is what made this game for me so continuing would hopefully include him or a person just as talented as him.

Taking their limited created games into account, I think Rocksteady is a very good studio. True, most of their employees are probably experienced veterans, but that doesn't mean they can suddenly start putting out awesome games. But Batman was only Rocksteady's second game! That's pretty awesome, imo. Respect.

Can't say anything more than "HOLY CRAP"!
But it'll be so much cooler because the Joker is old, meaning everybody is(though Quinn didn't seem,in fact she seemed as hot as ever).

So the second one is in Gotham city itself? I could see that being extremely interesting if they chose to run to all sorts of different enemy hideouts... though I'd be happy with whatever they churn up.
* fohfoh laughs again at joker.

Ah... how great it is to see jack nicholson's face but evil as hell.

Old? I thought he just looked beat-up? I mean, he didn't exactly get out of Arkham undamaged. ::)

It's so funny to know that Mark Hamill is voicing The Joker, although Star Wars was years before this, I would think that I'd be able to tell his voice.

Maybe it was not one of my best observations, but that was my first impression.Anyway, the setting of Gotham reminds me of a Batman game for PS1.You had 24h to save Gotham from Mr Freeze I think.God I loved that game.

I would go with beat up given the fact he has an IV in his arm going to a bag that looks to be blood, it's less noticeable because for some reason the IV is put in through his suit sleeve. Did anyone else notice the bumper car with what looks to be iether a cop or an Arkham guard's corpse in it, right before the camera went up into the (I'm guessing office) office where Joker is sitting in the chair laughing.
Maybe I'm speculating too much, but seeing as how the thugs seem to be roaming freely outside Arkham, and there seems to be a cop corpse riding around in Jokers hideout, perhaps this is maybe just phase 2 of his plan, that he started in Arkham??

Probably due to the cartoons and the Original Batman movies which were somewhat silly instead of dark... people fail to realize that Batman has a "side story" that's dark as fucking hell. Who here has read the comic "Arkham Asylum"? That comic was a total "holy hell" when it came to understanding the minds of the criminals within Arkham. (Mainly you're chasing the mind of Jane Doe) But it seriously is deep and dark. Great stuff. I was hoping to find more of those comics at my book store... but people snap them up so fast.

Some of that shit is close to mindfuck in the sense of detail. But you read it and go "FUCKING HELL! IT MAKES SENSE!"

Yes you are so right. The only one who comes close to Batman's darkness was  '94's animated series.I'm a comic book fan,I love Marvel's works, especially the events from 2000 until now.But from DC I only would try out Batman.I have TDK Returns(both),and I enjoyed them. Also,I didn't read that one but I'll surely download it and proceed with it.

If you want comic books, order them from amazon.com.That's how I got them in Romania, were the simple notion of comic book it's kinda abstract. Most don't even know what it means(or do to a lesser extent),and those who do didn't ever read one.So few guys(even less girls. In fact, there's a chance she doesn't even exist)read them.
