How does the CD differentiate between 3 machines?
And by 3 machines, is it counted as 3 different hard drives (regardless of whether it was on the same motherboard or different motherboard)? Or any amount of hard drives as long as they were on the first 3 motherboards used?

It's most likely not CD that notices, but authenticating the Key that comes with it. 3 Automatic authentications before you have to call em and tell them you HD crashed. At least that's how it worked with XP, no idea how win7 with authenticate but I foresee something similar when I buy it.

Of course it is but it still marks you as a major Otaku if you buy 7 Ultimate for the language feature (hey, if i actually knew Japanese I'd seriously consider getting Ultimate just because  8)).

And i wouldn't build a machine without 4 gigs of RAM anymore. I'm sorry but that is my absolute limit. 2 gigs is pushing it for me and if i had to i would put up with it but would rather have 4. I really can't imagine what it would be like to run 64 bit se7en with 1 gig of ram now that I'm spoiled with 4.  ::)
It also goes the same way with increasing amount of RAM. 8 is preferable if you have the extra money for it just to have it, but not really what i would consider necessary quite yet (for me). Then you get people who have 12 gigs which is just ridiculous. Now your just getting more RAM just to say you have more RAM.

nice thing about running with 8 gigs of ram on my e8500 is i can run wow and codmw2 at the same time and not lag

After installation, it makes a digital signature of your hardware and sends that to Microsoft when you activate Windows. You can install it on as many PCs as you want, but it should only activate on the first computer. If you want to install Windows on multiple machines, buy the family license pack.

Yeah don't you hit a limit with the speed of those 8 GB of ram with a e8500... Memory controller is slower on that compared to amd
am I correct?
