how do I add a photo to forums

I have been holding off for while now hoping someone else would ask this first so that I don't get yelled at (yet again) and even did a forum search using the word "adding photo" but can seem to find the instructions for how to properly do this.
I have 2 screen shots of avatars from another site that I am trying to get help identifying and planned on putting them into the anime identification forum but I can not figure out how to go about placing the photos from my desktop into this text section of the forum. I tried a simple copy and paste but that failed and I tried dragging the photo into the text section but that failed as well. I clicked on the little icon button above that says insert image and that brings up "img /img" but no windows open up asking me to locate the image on my hard drives so I am not sure what I am suppose to enter into the section between the brackets. For that matter I had a thought that the photos themselves may need to be stored on another photo sharing site or something like that and then a link somehow set to them to keep these forums from getting to large hosting everyone identification picture requests.
Regardless to how its done I would appreciate someone directing me to the wiki/forum page or explaining here how to properly add the photo from my computer or a link to whatever site bakabt recommends for storing them on so that I can get them identified.

Three simple steps:

1. Choose Photo
2. Upload it to an image hosting site (imageshack.us for example)
3. Add the [img=url][/url] to your post

you either have to use:

Got it I used the hyperlink "url /url" button and then did a copy past from imageshack.us to put the links into the forum question.  

Thanks for the help Mirgond and blubart. I appreciate it!! I assumed it would be easy once I had some clue and the help suggesting a image host was perfect. Especially since my "copy paste" failed so horribly trying to insert it directly into the text from my computer deaktop.

I have the question posted in the proper section so hopefully someone can identify them and even better now I know how to do this properly if I even need to get futher help in the future

You can also just insert the image link, highlight it and then press the image button. That'll make the tags appear automatically.
