BenQ G2410HD
« on: November 18, 2009, 08:12:41 PM »
Hi!

I found a BenQ G2410HD pretty cheap (340 USD is cheap for Argentina ;D, and even more for the DVI). But I don't know how is BenQ with LCDs. Any ideas? From the description and some reviews I found it seems pretty good. It'll be for anime/movies mainly. The cheapest Dell is 450 USD and most other monitors have VGA only.

Edit: You should probably read the description first.

Shipping: Currently, item can be shipped only within the U.S.

I can't really say I have much experience with their monitors, your best bet would be to put the model number into google and see if you can find any reviews.

Edit: Checked the monitor's specs on newegg. It's native resolution is 1920 x 1080, I have a 21' monitor with the same resolution. I kinda regret not getting a 1920x1200 monitor. The extra screen space would have been nice. It doesn't look to be bad at first glance though.

I have a BenQ G2400W- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014158
I've had it for 2 years now and it's in great condition despite being moved around a lot (to college and back) and even being smacked by a keyboard. I bought it for ~350 USD and it's great :). That being said, my experience with BenQ is that it's a solid brand.

My only complaint about your screen is that it has no HDMI port. If it is just going to hook up to your PC and you don't have a console or BR player it's fine.

Here is a link for it at newegg:

199.99 USD without shipping.

DVI->HDMI adapters are simple and cheap. You don't need audio in monitors anyway.
All you have to do is study it out. Just study it out.

I finally bought the BenQ this afternoon. Nice, no dead/stuck pixels (tested the screen at the store), good, vibrant colors (I'd say they are better than my previous Viewsonic VX922) and no complaints so far. The only thing is that it didn't came with the DVI cable. Only VGA. And in the place where I bought it they didn't sell DVI cables =/. I'll get one when I buy the parts for my new PC next week. I won't be using HDMI so it's no problem for me, and even if I buy a BD player it'll be a drive for the PC, so I can use the DVI.

Fair warning - I have a bluray drive in our media center (and a bluray disc), and yet it is still significantly easier to download a rip of said movie than to be able to play it with my shiny new hardware.  I have to install Windows (which caused a significant restructuring of our network), and even then, there are only a few (2?) programs that can play the disc, and I've heard about lots of BSODs resulting from them.

I fuckin' hate DRM.
