freeleech question *yes i read wiki*
« on: November 20, 2009, 02:59:22 AM »
yes i read wiki, and yes i did a search, this question isn't answered on them

i know how freeleech works when its avalible and a forum search makes me think that in the past it was a system wide thing and now it lets you do it to INDIVIDUAL torrents..

first, is that true?

and second, how can you tell when freeleech is active? Im not asking WHEN it will go up, im trying to figure out if when it happens it will be system wide, on everything, or certain individual files, and if it is individual files how you can keep an eye out for it

i noticed by searching that the following are always freeleech i guess
- All Music Videos
- All Artbooks
- All torrents smaller than 100MB
- All torrents with an 'A' quality rating; the 1080p Bluray torrents.

but what bout the regular stuff, thats what im trying to figure out. Hopefully someone can clarify this for me, tnx

Short answer: It happens when we decide to let it happen. Just keep watching announcements, we'll post if it happens.

Freeleech torrents are clearly marked in the browse page.

tnx, but im not asking when it happens im asking how you tell what is freelech

lets see if i can make it clearer.

1)Freeleech happens.. you will post something int he announcment page, right?

2) heres the real question, does that mean ALL torrents are freeleech at that point or will the specific ones that are be mentioned

saw your edit... i must be blind, i check browse and i see no tab or section for freeleech and doing a search for it doesn't bring them up. I see if you goto one that happens to be freeleech it will be tagged but i see no option to just browse by freeleech or anything. Thats what im trying to figure out

We don't have a 'browse by freeleech' option yet.

It's amazing what happens when you phrase your questions properly. Perhaps try doing that the first time instead of making everyone think you're blind AND stupid.

Freeleech wil never have a browse option (at least it doesn't sound reasonable at the moment). IF all torrents are set to be freeleech ones then it's an event and only for a limited time... and then there is no need to mark them as freeleech. If the announce says so, it is freeleech. (I guess with the new tracker all torrents will have "Freeleech: yes" for that limited time.)

christ Psyren, i picture you as an old man shaking his cane at kids and yelling for them to get off your damn lawn. Why are you always so friggin mean? personally insulting me for asking a question? Really? Whatever floats your boat man

I thought my original post was pretty clear

" how can you tell when freeleech is active? Im not asking WHEN it will go up, im trying to figure out if when it happens it will be system wide, on everything, or certain individual files, and if it is individual files how you can keep an eye out for it"

Pretty clear: Asking when its on if its actually system wide or certain individual files, and how to check which ones if its individual files.

thanks newy. So i gather that means that other than the listed files i posted that are always freeleech, the only other files that will be are ones specifically announced on the main page then, correct? Unless theres some system wide event.

not sure what you mean by that last line about the new tracker having all torrents on freeleech for a limited time though

No. It won't be announced which extra category files will be freeleech. I guess that will never happen. The time in which EVERY file is freeleech will be announced.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

You know, not very wise to go against psy... He's very short tempered...
Because re-reading your initial post left me _the same_ impression psyren got.

If we decide to make a global freeleech, yes of course it will be announced plus it most likely will be clearly marked on every torrent as well.
Individual files made freeleech chosen randomly or with a reason - usually are posted on the blog.
Browse by freeleech feature would need a complete redesign of the browse page, so when or if it will be implemented, again, will be announced...

ya i know hes short tempered, thats why i didn't call him names right back or try to start flaming =P Most of his posts are him just yelling at people, swearing, and calling them names. I wish the forum had an ignore user option. Even then i guess it wouldn't work since hes staff *shrug* anyway tnx for the info guys

Blame the noobs that caused him to become like that.
I mean after so many years of individuals not bothering to read the rules and whatnot and asking stupid question/request/doing stupidshit; one will start to change.

Well, I have never had Psy go off on me, so I would say the fault lies with the people he gets upset at, not with him. 99% of the time I tend to share some of his annoyance.

Actually, he gave you advice for the future, given as a result of you asking a poor question.

It was significantly less clear than you thought.  I often have difficulty reading your posts, which should not be the case, since we're from the same country.  Imagine how a non-native English speaker feels.

I thought my original post was pretty clear
... and most idiots think they're pretty smart. What does that tell you?
Read this:
tnx, but im not asking when it happens im asking how you tell what is freelech
... and now this:
2) heres the real question, does that mean ALL torrents are freeleech at that point or will the specific ones that are be mentioned
... and now this:

I don't know about you, but I get the impression that you're either:
1) Suffering from ADD
2) Unable to form a coherent sentence or stay on one topic as a result of lack of brain matter, or;
3) Unable to stop and think about what it is you actually want before going on a verbal diarrhoea crusade.
