ILA's Releases
« on: November 23, 2009, 10:42:53 PM »
I know it's been forbidden to upload ILA's encodes/fansubs but do we have any chance of reconsideration or re-talks? Their old stuff has been pulled from their bots and a lot of the torrents are dead. I had to find rapidshare links to download the Madonna OVA's since the torrent has no seeds.

One of the staff talked to them briefly a few months ago regarding another group's release that used their subtitles, and they seemed pretty dead-set against having their stuff here.

I'm sorry to bump an old thread, but I couldn't find an answer, nor is there a newer thread on this topic.

Why does BBT give 2 shits about whether or not ILA wants or doesn't want their subs up here. They don't hold /ANY/ rights to /ANY/ show they sub, so why blacklist their subs? Is there another reason, like they're trollsubs or do complete re-writes or something like that? They (fansubbers) are doing something that's, to be nice about it, "not sanctioned" by the actual copyright owner. They basically get no say in what happens to the subs they do. I'd /prefer/ if people don't take the things I've edited and change them all up, but it's not like I can do anything to /stop/ them... If the reason that BBT doesn't host their subs is because the sub group members are arseholes, then that's pretty sad. If the subs are good (I don't know b/c I've never watched anything by them) then there's no reason why they can't be hosted here. Could somebody please enlighten me on this?

Nope... Not a thing...

BBT staff (actually everybody) is free to disrepect somebody's wishes (the original content creators, like anime studios) and respect the wishes of others. Here it seems the fansub groups' statements about who shall distribute their products are considered more important than those of the studios.

Now that you mention... yeah, why does BakaBT give 2 shits about what fansubs want or don't want? They don't have the copyright to ANYTHING, so why give a shit? I thought that trackers and torrents are for the only purpose of making content (in this case the best quality anime) free to everyone. Having some arseholes say what can and what can't get uploaded, or even those that have the "exclusive" right to upload their files, kinda defeats that purpose. And it's not like we're uploading things and taking credit for them, we're not modifying the files (not even the file names) and we always note who made the release and also put a tag with the group name. It's completely stupid and nonsense not uploading those things here, unless well, as they said, it's trollsubs or crap. Just my 2 cents.

Exiled-Destiny is a ripping group also, and their releases are on BBT.  Just wanting some mod or user who's been around for a while to give me some sort of reason. Not sure why Dattebayo's on the list, either (not that I really care about DB very much, but it's part and parcel of the same question).

Nope... Not a thing...

After a staff agreement, ILA releases are removed from our blacklist.

Oh, wow... Wasn't quite expecting that. Did anybody remember why they were put on there in the first place?  Like I said before, I don't think I've seen any of their subs and don't really have any vested interest in the group or otherwise (they haven't pissed me off, either, so I'm not mad at them...). It's now more idle curiosity than anything else ^__^

And that automatically adds quite a few possible offers from the list of their releases:

For example, Eat-man.

DB is on there because they DOSed Boxtorrents ages ago for hosting their releases. Nobody forced the issue because DB's releases are very much available via well-seeded single torrents, and batch torrents elsewhere. Would the new anti-DOS measures allow DB releases to be safely hosted? I don't know, and it might not be worth it to find out.

As I remember it, the story on ILA is a little more complicated. ILA, the self-proclaimed "Eric Cartman of fansubbing," gets annoyed when people breathe the wrong way in their IRC channel. They got pissed at the behavior of users from some country (let's say Brazil) and banned the entire country from their channel/tracker. And to ensure that users from that country couldn't get their releases, they wanted BxT to ban Brazil as well. When BxT didn't agree to do that, ILA demanded that their releases not be uploaded here. At the time, ILA's releases were tracked on AniRena and thus available outside IRC. So again, Box staff decided not to force the issue. CMIIW. But as animestudz said awhile ago, their releases aren't really available on torrents anymore.

The only ILA releases I've seen have had standard R1-ripped .srt subs and so-so encoding quality. But they're often the only choice for old/obscure anime.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

Does that mean you guys want me to upload Eat-Man?
Demons run when a good man goes to war. Night will fall and drown the sun, when a good man goes to war. Friendship dies and true love lies, night will fall and the dark will rise, when a good man goes to war. Demons run but count the cost, the battle's won, but the child is lost.

IIRC, there is about a dozen anime available in subbed form only as ILA rips.

Un-fucking-believable. I lost the files.

Edit: Un-fucking-believable. I found DDL. http://hsbsitez.com/anime-downloads/2158/Eat-Man

2nd edit: OH MY GOD, the TL from ILA is SHIT. I have the first 3 episodes by Nora Inu Anime. ILA used their TL for 01-03 and it shows. It was MUCH better. Too bad they dropped.
