Usenet is where you want to download stuff from. It was the 'go to' place before P2P and it's still the go to place. Now I could use a what.cd invite in return. wink... Actually, the usenet used to be awesome until most ISP's started charging for access. Speed you can't get from torrents, plus no way for the MPAA or RIAA to track you, the draw back for those speedy direct downloads is, money. Unless your ISP offers it for free. I don't know of any national ISP's that offer usenet for free anymore...
