I take off my hat to this torrent giant.

If Mininova rose from the ashes of Suprnova, I'm sure it'll do it again! It's only a matter of time, and the cycle will probably repeat itself (share, sue, share, sue, etc.).

Usenet is where you want to download stuff from. It was the 'go to' place before P2P and it's still the go to place. Now I could use a what.cd invite in return. wink... Actually, the usenet used to be awesome until most ISP's started charging for access. Speed you can't get from torrents, plus no way for the MPAA or RIAA to track you, the draw back for those speedy direct downloads is, money. Unless your ISP offers it for free. I don't know of any national ISP's that offer usenet for free anymore...

love usenet (6000+Kb/s down). I download everything from there first. No way for your ISP to track you with SSL. So no letters about illegally downloading movies. Astraweb is really cheap too.

How much are you paying? We don't have too many problems with BT down here, but I am curious. Used to have Usenet for free years ago. And it costs MPAA or RIAA just a letter to your Usenet provider to pounce you, however they aren't interested in that right now.

I have the Giganews w/SSL diamond plan. So it's $30 a month, but that comes with access for their VyperVPN at no extra charge. Astraweb charges $10 a month. The MPAA and RIAA cannot send letters because Giganews doesn't keep track of what is downloaded (the mention this on their website). Your ISP can't see anything because downloads are done through SSL.
