[Anime] A.D. Police (1999)
« on: November 29, 2009, 07:32:55 PM »
I'd like to request the sequel of A.D. Police which has been licensed by ADV in 2001.

Description:The A.D. Police saga, the awesome spin-off of the hit anime Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040!
A sudden rise in VOodoo Organic Metal Extension Resources [VOOMER] incidents has put the A.D. Police in the hot seat.
Making matters worse, Kenji Sasaki - one of the A.D. Police's most valuable and unconventional officers has had his share of bad luck. It seems his partners are either turning up dead or seriously injured.
Given a new partner, Hans Kleif, and one last chance to redeem himself by playing by the rules, Kenji needs to get to the bottom of this techno-mystery and keep the VOOMERS from turning Genom City into a high-tech wasteland.

For single audio there seems to be only one candidate: ASS. There are two other groups listed but one has the word "to rip" in its name and from the other group I guess it's very hard to get one's hands on their release.

ASS:
Codec: DivX5/6
Container: avi
Source: unknown

For dual audio we have quite a range. I just name the ones which are the easiest to find: AHQ, a4e, ACX. Which group is preferred? Who are the contacts for AHQ and a4e here on BBT?

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

AHQ: AHQMV (though he has been absent for some time here)
a4e: ShannonNii, defsyfe and Shadowfax that I know of.

You could download an episode from each of the three you mention and place a comparison in this forum thread, see what the mods and other users think.
If an a4e or AHQ release is preferred, then you can always try to contact a distro member at that time.

I guess I'll contact one of each group to find out if they still have the files. TT and their bots do not seem to have it anymore.

I still have the a4e version around but i don't know how it compares to the ahq version. If someone can compare and maybe post some shots here.

Although this was answered already, I thought I'd mention that there are now links to the tracker accounts of the distro members of the controlled release groups on the blacklist.

There is no point in uploading any of the single-audio versions. They'll just have the same subtitles as the dual-audio releases, only hardsubbed. And those hardsubs will likely be in DVD-style, which we know people don't like. I've got ACX, which is the only modern/mkv version out there. a4e's is okay for DivX/ogm, but AHQ's is a bit outdated -- .ogm with external subs. At a glance, ACX seems like reasonable quality, and the previews are intact.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

Could you take 4 screens from episode 1? I can then match them with screens from the ACX release.

I wrote to AHQMV a week ago. Since then he has been online but either he disabled receiving PMs on the mainpage or he ignores me. :-/

The reason i did a minor crop on the ACX release was because we agreed it was for the better, you will notice it has removed some quite disturbing artifacts tru out the episodes at the edges, compared to its competitors.

Cropping is bad, that's all there is to it, no argumenting can fix or change that.

Cropping is always bad? Then why do I commonly see comments like "Black bars on the left and right sides, group XX should've cropped them?"

Cropping is bad. Black borders are worse.
