converting .ogm etc. to dvd-playable .avi
« on: December 02, 2009, 02:18:11 PM »
Reason I want bebop in avi format is cuz I can't play it on my dvd otherwise but my guess is they don't allow avi files anymore.

But if someone could upload it that would be awesome otherwise i will look into converting mkv

AVI files are fine for class C uploads. The BakaBT LQ version of Cowboy Bebop is in an OGM container though.

use some dvd burning software to burn dvd-video from the mkv.

I recommend using ConvertXtoDVD to just convert any type of file avi, mkv, ogm ect. to dvd files and burning it to disk.

When life gives you lemons, you clone those lemons and make super lemons.

You can also check isohunt and some other trackers... there are .avi versions floating around. Only problem is, KAA's is the most common and it's wmv9.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

Easiest thing to do is just  download the OGM version, since its DivX (which I'm assuming is what your DVD player will play if it plays AVI's),  demux the tracks,  take your preferred audio track and convert it to MP3 or whatever format your DVD will play, then  mux that audio track into the AVI (or DivX or whatever extension it is).

No re-encoding, no loss of video quality.  At the bitrate its at now, the audio probably isn't that spectacular anyway.  Works best if you prefer english, as you don't have to deal with subs..  But most players should play a subtitle file that shares the exact same name as the video file, I would think.

Not many DVD players can do anything with softsubs, and the ones that do usually need .srt files.  It's a lot easier just to reconvert with the subtitles hardcoded.

Most of mine have been philips  DivX certified..

But either way,  if he just wants english audio,  the outlined method is about as easy as it will get.

I'm so glad I got my WDTV HD Live..  Solved the whole problem entirely.
