I think you have done awesome job. It's kind of difficult when you have low quality image sources with jaggy outer lines and edit them to look good in BBT banner. And I love how Nono holds that sign!! It's clever idea/solution =^.^=
When you have low image source as this:
There's nothing much you can do. You create a bg image
Cut and resize the original and implement it to bg
And then you need to find out solutions to make it look good.

@Phaedris, I noticed that in your first version of that banner, you used the default outer-glow settings with yellow colour ~3px ? But the red looks much better than the yellow =^.^=
