Dragon Ball Z & GT & Movies
« on: December 07, 2009, 03:07:50 PM »
I know I'm missing something here. So instead of flaming me, please just let me know what it is I'm doing wrong.

A search for these two series returned nothing relevant. I searched the Torrent Requests forum and didn't even see a mention of either of these two series.

It confuses me.

Are these animes off limits to request/upload? Only reason I could see for that would be an irrational aversion to the mainstream.
My primary allegiance is to the BitTorrent protocol. Here are the best ways to serve it:

1. Seed via both private and public trackers.
2. Boycott any ISP's (like Comcast) that go on illegal vendettas to throttle and peer-reset would-be torrenters.

Even the original? I'm not talking about dubbed versions.

You can look up their licenses on Funimation's copyright page. If it is not there or it says "Distributed by Funimation" (i.e. they're only doing distribution), quote the copyright entry here.

Licensing doesn't work that way. When a company like Funimation licenses a series, they get exclusive rights to create and distribute English-language versions in a given part of the world. That includes subtitled and dubbed versions.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

Even so, it's not like they're hard to find, many groups have done them.

It's technically illegal (in at least some parts of the world) for us to host anime, period.

I really don't understand that, it's file sharing right? No ones selling? It can't be illegal.

how can sharing (even if it is for free) not be illegal if you don't have the right to share it in the first place? ... common sense please.

The reason we don't allow Funi-licensed shows is because they'll send C&D letters to our host, and we'd like to avoid that.  It's much simpler than legality.

When I can't find something here I allays check this list before asking. DO NOT UPLOAD List
and because I keep that bookmarked I have not yet had to actually ask for anything here.
