Anyone still using Xvid?
Xiong Chiamiov:
I download XviD encodes if I feel that they are better in regards to other things. For instance, I'm really a fan of afk, who only encodes in XviD, so I watched Haruhi S2 in it. If he did h264 encodes, then I'd grab those instead.*
* Yes, I realize that someone else used his subs on h264 (and possibly hdtv?) encodes.
ReyBrujo:
Yes, if they have lower resolution than the bigger rips. My current computer can't handle 720p or higher, so I download Xvid (or any other codec, for that matter) if they are below 720p to play in background while I am coding. I don't really care about quality, though, so I am happy with any codec actually.
Proin Drakenzol:
I voted "no," but if the only way the series is being released is in h264, that's obviously an exception.
There is a noticeable difference in the level of artifacting on Xvid vs h264 encodes on my TV.
Same with 480p vs 720p vs 1080p. If there's a choice I'll get the 1080p. Unless the "720p" or "1080p" is from a really shitty group (in which case it's probably upscaled anyway) then I'll get the best group at the highest resolution.
DVSKaz:
I still use xvid (avi container) due to it's portability. I mainly watch my anime on my psp (train/bus rides) or my xbox 360. I also have a lot of friends that still use their original xbox and my gf uses her ps3 to play all her media. That's not even to mention the random people out there with divx/xvid players. I think it'd be great for the community as a whole to encode releases into xvid and offer them along side the mkv releases. Instead of thousands of members wasting time re encoding files just for themselves, wouldn't it be great to have an internal group that could provide for the community as a whole?
wolkec:
there are plenty of cinema films on xvid
