Maybe "Harem" should have gotten it's own genre.  Seems like it's a big enough and distinct enough category to be one.

hmmm mine would prbs be detective/mystery/drama type as fav animes include Paranoia Agent, Monster, Mushishi (more fantasy and adventure I guess), Death Note etc. But then I like to balance it out with some comedy too like GTO or Hajime no Ippo. Can't really fathom much romance unless its intelligently told like Ef or Nodame Cantible.

Drama of any variety. Action drama would probably be my favorite... but romance drama is a very close second.

Put me down for cyberpunk! (i guess it's sci fi if you don't want to get into specific sub genres. Not sure how long of a paper this is). ghost in the shell = best ever!

Close second would probably be action/adventure. I really like anime that makes me think (which is a much more accurate description of what i would consider my favorite type of anime, so if you want to go more in depth about that in your paper feel free!).

:] I'm pretty open to all, I like the mystery-ish thrillers (Higashi no Eden), Comedies (Lucky Star), and classic action/adventure shounen anime like DBZ and Soul Eater. :3

I'm actually doing a research paper for school and I got to pick the topic.  Initially it was people's general opinions on anime in general... but my teacher chose to interpret it as "People's Opinions on different anime genres."  So, I'm taking a survey on what people's favorite genres are.

I'm not sure if your project is still active or not. A person said it earlier than me, but I think you might want to change your 'research paper' (not really a research paper, just a social poll) to:

"What Anime genres appeals to you and why?"

And then don't even use a poll. Do a case by case study by collating people's responses and then write a very general summary report of your findings. Done

your original topic is overly vague.
