and I want to think Proin's words are positive and mean "your data is safe"
I hate to disappoint you, but was just quibbling about definitions, and either way doesn't affect whether or not your data was erased.

that was supposed to be the backed up data.
and the "in queue to burn into DVD" data.
I think you have a wrong (or at least highly-disagreeable) definition of backup... If the data on that hard drive is indeed backed up, you should not need to have to do any data recovery. If it was backed up, it means you have another copy of it somewhere, and can just get that copy again and duplicate it on your hard drive, which saves you from going to the trouble of data recovery.

Reformatting a drive can be very fast or very slow, depending on whether every bit was overwritten, or if it's just the records that are overwritten. In any case, good luck with the data recovery, and I hope you learn a lesson from this. No, really, because if it's truly important data like you said, the earlier you learn what a backup is and how to do one properly, the better it is for you in future.

ok let me rephrase that.

those hard drives contain anime that I have already watched and am currently seeding. They arent really back up, but they are in queue-tobackup. Altough since I already saw them I wont get THAT mad about loosing them, (altough my ratio will keep decreasing. . .:( )

anyways.
the only "precious" information is "my documents" (xcept my music which is already backed up in 2 other hard driveS)
other than that everything else is replaceable.

but yes, I've learned something today:
"investigate what you are buying before you buy it"
and
"fix your language when posting in forums"

and thank you all for your feedback.
thats why I stick with bakaBT

So......you didn't backup your data first?

that was supposed to be the backed up data.
and the "in queue to burn into DVD" data.

so yeah. Ill see if my recovery software can work on those, I guess ill hook em up to the main cable that goes to the motherboard, see what I can do from there.

and about the RAIDING.
I did go to the "Raid options" and created a new raid. but it did so quickly i dont know if ti actually did re-format the drives.
and I want to think Proin's words are positive and mean "your data is safe"

You wish.

You probably erased the magic number for the drive (aka "quick format") so you're still fucked.

The linear nature of your Euclidean geometry both confounds and befuddles me.

And what in your experience makes you think that?

...I'm still trying to figure out a clever way to work in the terms "wizard" and "daemon" into a sentence, but my boss woke me up early to resend him an e-mail (I have a day off today) so I'm a little tired.

TY proin, your wishes came true and my data is mostly unharmed.

I was looking at the drives trough that data recovery and there are some that are like "recovered.jpg" and stuff like that.

Difference from when I recovered other files:
-I found like 90% of the information completely unharmed (With all the folders/subfolders/filenames) in there.
Question is:

Can I just like tell the drive "yo! everythings there, just re-index stuff" or something along those lines?

or do I have to copy all the info into my other hard drive (which is what ill be doin tomorrow. . .) and then format that hard drive and then recopy it back.? cause we're talking bout 220 gigs round that. so coyping trough IDE cable wont be so fast.

WIZARDMON!
(sorry couldnt resist)

====================== edit =============

nvm. . .im just copying everything to a new drive.
will reformat the other ones and see where I can go
