japanese mayo!
« on: December 17, 2009, 06:58:25 AM »
lol just thought id share. If anyones tried Japanese mayonnaise, you should know its way smoother and tastier than european/american mayo. I found an online place that has the good brand pretty damn cheap.

http://www.veryasia.com/kemajma.html

i put this shit on my tacos and fries =P

Its also got some other cool stuff like botan sushi rice, some very tasty seaweed snacks,  and various pocky flavors if your grociery stores dont carry it.

Aren't there online recipes as to how to make this stuff?

Honestly?

I can't tell the difference.

The linear nature of your Euclidean geometry both confounds and befuddles me.

I can't tell the difference.

TO be fair, I find more difference in between mayo brands than "mayo types".

really drakenzol? it tastes completely different to me. Probably because they use rice vinegar. Its much smoother. It comes in a plastic bag/bottle for chrisake

you are right foh, american mayo varries wildly. I cant stand kraft, or that fake mayo they always advertise. only 2 brands i can use are best foods which is meh, and heinz which is ok

and there are probably online recepies for how to make it but it probably wont taste the same and its way easier to just buy it

Mayo ftl.  Barbeque sauce ftw.

Mac & Cheese?  Mixed vegetables?  Mashed potatoes?  All good choices for the good 'ol sauce.

Mayo: the nastiest substance to ever be conceived.
It's like vinegary salty puss...
no, seriously. what-the-fuck.
I'd rather cut off my own testicles with a rusty butterknife and pour lemon juice on the open wound than eat a spoonful of mayo.

Ingredients: Vegetable oil, egg yolk, vinegar, salt, monosodium glutamate, spices contains egg.

I can take MSG in small doses, but if I eat enough of it... BAM! Massive diarrhea.

It's also an excitotoxin

Which is why people get headaches and migraines from eating it. I don't.. I just get the runs. Which is why I 'kind' of avoid it. :P

I replace mayo with honey flavored BBQ sauce...

Mayo is ok in very few situations. But in all other situations, it's disgusting.

Never tried Japanese mayo, but I like the normal stuff in chicken wraps, with chips (fries) and with pizza. Don't eat it with much else. And I could never eat a spoonful on its own, ick

I had to buy some Japanese mayo recently as my gf wanted to make sushi.
regular mayo wasn't good enough... I think it tastes a little weird myself.

actually the best mayo I've ever had was a no-name product from Aldi...a large german discounter... and uhm.... I can only eat it when mixed with ketchup or in potatoe-/pastasalad. But sometimes... I just need a portion of french fries red/white :P

I've also had japanese Mayo in sushi and so on and tbh I think it's kinda tasteless...
and yes...you can make mayo yourself... just take care that it's made from really fresh products and don't store it too long in the fridge after preparation (and never leave it out in the warm room) since it's prone to salmonellae.

Recipe for homemade mayonnaise:
1    Egg (only the yolk)
2 TS*   Mustard
1 TS*   sugar
1 BS*   vinegar or lemon juice
125 ml   sunflower oil
    some salt (taste!)
I didn't know the actual english abbreviations so TS = tea spoon and BS = big spoon XD)

Stir (beat it hard :P) eggyolk, mustard, sugar and vinegar in a bowl until a thick mass develops, then slowly add oil until it's smooth...add salt according to your taste.

Guten Appetit :P

In UK English a BS would probably be a desert spoon.
