As you can see on the screenshot, you don't have anyone to seed to.

Well how should I know which torrents that got enough peers? It's just 1 tracker available anyway and if I download something the thing is that I shall aid to seed it. Without no peers it will be a bit hard though. And If If I'm able to download the file there most be pople that is seeding it, then It should be possible for me to seed it aswell?

for starters you could look at the number of leechers listed on the torrent download page

And If If I'm able to download the file there most be pople that is seeding it, then It should be possible for me to seed it aswell?
yes, it just takes a while. just as you came and downloaded the torrent there might be others who are going to do the same - at which point you can upload to them if you have that torrent still seeding in your client.

Your questions are rather understandable, since this is your first day as a member. Take your time to read the previous posts in this section, read the BakaBT wiki, those will answer most of your questions.

I have a similar question, sorry for using someone else's thread.  :(

Im trying to seed Haruhi season 2. First it goes really, really slow on the up/seeding -ness or w/e. Then it just now stopped completely. Im really new at this so this question is probably stupid, so I apologize.  :-[

How in the world do I get it to continue seeding..

Look at the number of peers, 10, okay, now look at the number of seeders, 174, which means there's a little over 17 seeders for each peer, which is obviously a bit too much for any seed to achieve a good speed.
So, having patience is the best you can do.

And at the moment you made that screenshot you were connected only to one leecher.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

There are 119 leechers on the upper one, but only 2 on the bakabt one, and neither of those are connected. So you're not gonna be seeding anything anyway.

EDIT- Crap, never spotted there was a page two! Ignore me, its late.  T_T

Wait. How the hell are there more seeders than peers.. I thought if people were seeding then they'd have to be a peer. Now Im confusing myself..

I thought anyone downloading or seeding the torrent regardless were considered peers, no? I've read so many definitions of peers, leechers, and seeders. That's what I got from it.  ???

Peers is commonly referred to as the total of seeders and leechers. in this case here vortex was most likely referring to the number of peers you could possibly upload to.

vortex was probably referring to the column "peers" in the screenshot of utorrent the ultima posted.

but I agree, peers = seeders + leechers (at least it should to prevent confusion)

Alright, I got it, thank you a lot. Sorry for all the hassley questions, I apparently fail at google trying to find the answers so I won't have to bother so much, last one:

Is there any way to connect to more of the peers instead of just 1 of the 10?

Is there a reason Im not connecting to all peers? Any settings to help or is it just my internet speed's problem?

Thanks again. :Ð

it's most likely neither your internet speed nor something in your settings. with 170+ other seeds the chance for those 10 leechers to not have already maxed out their connection speed is pretty slim. thus they won't connect to another seeder until their speed drops.
if there are less seeders on another torrent serving more leechers you will surely be able to connect with more peers.

@Drybananna : Various settings within the BitTorrent client allow you to manage how the client connects to other clients (peers) during p2p activities (download / upload, seed / leech) such as "Upload slot per torrent". The clients' User Interface allow you to tweak these settings but they have varying impact on the performance of the client due to the design of "BitTorrent Protocol". Unfortunately accessing these settings are specific to every client (utorrent, vuze etc) which requires the user to dwell in help documents provided with the software.

Number peers is specific to every torrent and is just a statistical number provided by the tracker. Even if the trackers says there are 5000 leeching peers on that torrent, your client will not be aware of who they are, so you can not initiate a connection and promote your torrent directly to them. The leeching peers acquire the seeding peers from the tracker and connect to you if they want to.

The client optimizes the number of peers to connect during download according the bandwidth available to it. So if there are too many seeding peers on that torrent, the leeching peers just might not see a need to connect your seeding client. That's often why we can not connect to all leeching peers.

if you want more information consider more reading on the BitTorrent Protocol and the client you are using.  ;)

Thanks to everyone that took the time to answer my question. Things are starting to look bright here, and I now got a little more experience on what torrents to choose for maximum seed/peer and upload speed. Soon I will be able to Download what I want and still keep my ratio up, thank you all :)
