The Food Thread
« on: December 20, 2009, 03:39:42 AM »
Made something worthy of showing off? Was it tasty? Post pics here.

Here is some mushroom miso soup I made (I'm not Asian, I'm a scottish dude from Cleveland, so this stuff is challenging at times) :P

And here was my main course. Japanese soba noodles with shrimp + sauce. Ingredients included finely ground garlic and ginger root, sugar, soy sauce, green beans, baby carrots, shrimp, soba, sugar, cornstarch, chicken broth, lemon juice (i used freshly squeezed lemons) and vegetable oil.

Made this a couple years ago.
Breaded Pan-fried Turkey Burger, Garden Tomatos, Basil, Parmasan Cheese, Bacon, Olive Oil, and Chili.
All between two slices of garlic toast.

A happier Cubesy there's never been...

Man... Damn, i'm going to have to start taking pictures of dinner now... But as for my recipies... most of them are best kept hush hush.  You never ask a chef that.

I make really nice chicken wraps. But they're not much to look at because all the yummy stuff is inside. I want a toasting machine for them like KFC though, I just dont think they sell those to the general public

Are you talking about a Salamander?  Something like this?

Nah, its a machine that has a big hot plate on the bottom, and two smaller ones on top which are hinged. You put the twister inbetween the top and bottom and the pressure and heat causes the wrap to stay together, and heats it nicely.

mmmm Food. Sadly the most I'm capable of making are simple things like sandwiches or toasted cheese, for anything else there's the microwave  ::). Lightly toast the bread, use the grill to melt the cheese on top, add some ham and you got yourself a toasted cheese sandwich.

Nice! I only know how to make hamburgers, milanesas (I love them with cheese or in sandwiches), rice, noodles, and potatoes (I like smashed potatoes :D). For anything more "complicated" I just buy ordered food. Two days ago I ordered chaw mien with bittersweet pork and meat spring rolls. It was... awesome, too bad I didn't see this thread to take a photo and post it. I love spring rolls too... hehe, yesterday I bought a tray of 6 units and a pot of bittersweet sauce... I had 3 for lunch and two for dinner (along with a slice of pizza). I still have one more for tomorrow's breakfast ;D

Note: "Milanesas"... no idea if it has some equivalent in English (I'm from Argentina). It's a slice of meat, generally cow meat or chicken, covered with breadcrumbs and fried.

With cheese and tomato sauce, also called "a la napolitana":

I tend to only be cooking for myself... and don't tend to be thinking about how photogenic my food is. After all, it might look good, doesn't always mean it tastes good though
