Havoc10K:
Honestly, if I remember correctly, this story is based on a Light Novel book, so if there is a translation, or you don't need a translations just read it.

Geography was my main, so I do know that it takes quite a few thousands of years to make a cover this big, and deserts really do suck :D

Unless it's a parfait :D

I suggest watching the BD/DVD version, twice, you CAN skip the OVA, but it's pretty good too :)
It does say a little about the world, but only a little.

CaptnAwesome:
yeah I have the Blu-Ray version from CoalGirls  (1-12) downloaded, but after watching 5 episodes I feel like i need to buy the  "SOUND OF THE SKY" (Sora no Woto) Complete DVD COLLECTION [L.E.]  I try not watch it all at once, and space it, but its hard lol! I love the animation, looks like K-ON!! but with a Hayao Miyazaki type of setting. (click to show/hide)After reviewing the geological features it did make sense too me. Even if was a few thousands of years, wouldn't an Ice age occur and like wipe out mass people, and  change landscapes, plus if was a huge nuclear battle, wouldn't that have cause the world too go into a nuclear winter, which is basically like an ice age?

Havoc10K:
Ice age and nuclear winter didn't occur, it all depends on the damage actually, Ice age would come from global warming, and nuke winter would come from nukes, but it all depends on how the weapon is used, nuclear weapon actually doesn't mean Atomic Bombing.

I'm more inclined to believe that whatever big weapons they made, they were in use over nukes themselves, so I am now correcting my opinion, but if it was a few thousands of years the nuclear winter could pass, as for Ice Age, that would last a longer while but after a few hundred years the climate would subside and balance out, which wouldn't explain the desert of the size of the Euro-Asia continents.

So yeah, more likely huge walkers.

CaptnAwesome:
Dang this makes me want too read the manga, (which I rarely do) and light novel ;D I've been doing some rosetta stone, plus I've been learning some sentence phrases off family members, the thing is I can't really read Kanji. Time for some google action!

I was under the impression that (click to show/hide)the people of the past were fighting against the monsters.Check the episode where (click to show/hide)Filicia (or how her name was written, MAL uses this) finds the corpse of a former soldier and starts hallucinating.
