Honestly, if I remember correctly, this story is based on a Light Novel book, so if there is a translation, or you don't need a translations just read it.

Geography was my main, so I do know that it takes quite a few thousands of years to make a cover this big, and deserts really do suck :D

Unless it's a parfait :D

I suggest watching the BD/DVD version, twice, you CAN skip the OVA, but it's pretty good too :)
It does say a little about the world, but only a little.

yeah I have the Blu-Ray version from CoalGirls  (1-12) downloaded, but after watching 5 episodes I feel like i need to buy the  "SOUND OF THE SKY" (Sora no Woto) Complete DVD COLLECTION [L.E.]  I try not watch it all at once, and space it, but its hard lol! I love the animation, looks like K-ON!! but with a Hayao Miyazaki type of setting.

Ice age and nuclear winter didn't occur, it all depends on the damage actually, Ice age would come from global warming, and nuke winter would come from nukes, but it all depends on how the weapon is used, nuclear weapon actually doesn't mean Atomic Bombing.

I'm more inclined to believe that whatever big weapons they made, they were in use over nukes themselves, so I am now correcting my opinion, but if it was a few thousands of years the nuclear winter could pass, as for Ice Age, that would last a longer while but after a few hundred years the climate would subside and balance out, which wouldn't explain the desert of the size of the Euro-Asia continents.

So yeah, more likely huge walkers.

Dang this makes me want too read the manga, (which I rarely do) and light novel ;D I've been doing some rosetta stone, plus I've been learning some sentence phrases off family members, the thing is I can't really read Kanji. Time for some google action!

This one was great; I really loved the slice of life setting moving into a structured story.  And what a great ending, at that.

I think I might just consider myself the hater of this forum, because I thought this series had potential, it's just.......they didn't do anything with it. Sure, a war went on but apparently
(click to show/hide)
and in the meantime, let's have a grand ol' time. It was K-ON during a war. That's it.

I'm always astonished how people want everything to be bad before someone in the show fixes it, I pretty much enjoyed all the things that this show contained, from start to end and OVA.

You expect blood in every war-themed show and here you got a fist up your face saying "Not so fast!"

does everything need a war in it's true form ?
combat was never the intention of this show, but stopping it's eruption, if you think stopping a war from erupting is easier than stopping a war in progress... you don't know women.

Just finished this and really enjoyed it. The characters were fun, and everyone got a nice bit of development.

My favorite thing was how the plot picked up in episodes 11 and 12. Normally, I'd wish they had cut everything and just made a short (better) ova from the few episodes with plot. But I thought it was a refreshing departure from typical story telling methods. A very nice surprise.

Yeah, it was sorta K-ON! in a war setting. But I think the bleak world made the cuteness poignant, in a way. Like, when the world is caving in, you might as well be happy. If I were living in Post-Apocalyptia, I'd much rather be stationed with people with that attitude and energy.

Yeah, it is like K-ON! in a war setting, but with an actual story and some real character development.  Moe blobs are cute.

Raising Lazarus! Bringing "dead posts" back to life!

I absolutely LOVE this series! Every part of it makes me happy, it's just great!
Episodes 1-5 were terrific, but Episode 6? (The "Mafia" one) Is one of the finest things I've ever seen! Within the context of the series, it's just... so good! And the "scuttlebutt" is that this series gets even better? :omg:

So: Half way through and I'm hooked, lined and sinkered! The quality of this series will cause me to seek out more from this Company, artist, writer & etc. It's just so good!

Did I mention that I think it's good? Yes? Ok then...

Not really meaning to necro the thread (Again) but I thought I might mention that my school had a holocaust assembly the other day and ended said assembly with a few talented singers closing with a vocal rendition of Amazing Grace. It also happened to be on the day that the animu club I run met so we watched the last two episodes of this show and everyone mentioned how they were getting shivers from watching those two episodes. Especially so, probably, because some of them hadn't seen the show before and they didn't realize the significance of the tie-in with Amazing Grace the show had to the assembly we had earlier that day.

Well, at least it wasn't John Denver's Country Roads.

I can't remember which year it came out, but I do hold that it was my favorite for that year. Not the best show, but my favorite of them. As you said, it just makes you so happy. The intro alone could take me from a state of high anxiety to one of serene bliss.
