This is just a random guess/prediction, but I think this show might take a more serious tone than K-On later on in the show. Just a weird feeling I get. I could be waaaay off the mark here, but I think it might even have a sad ending. There's just something about the first 2 eps that reminds me of something I can't put my finger on.

The tone is about 100,000 times more solemn than K-On.Especially with some of the history dropped in episode 2. (click to show/hide)This being a post-apocalyptic world of sorts where for some reason or another most of the human population died off a long time ago - although they seemed to have retained some of their technology, see walking tanks. While I don't think they'd go so far as to have end on a downer, the series has already set itself up to be much more serious. I hope they don't deviate from that. I'm definitely enjoying the art style and the music in the new setting. A lot of people don't like it, but I think it works really well.
I think that whole fire maiden ritual from the first episode may be a little bit of foreshadowing of whats to come, also a dark end may not happen but I am thinking one or two characters may die.
Episode 3 is out! Gogogo.
*sigh* HS were first again ;pgawd, the mistakes are making me sleepy.
apparently have PHd's at CR
He also said how to fix that issue.
That episode gave me massive chills... it does look like this is going to be a mildly serious series.
