And the newest PV:
http://www.angelbeats.jp/movie/pv06.html - watch it! Actual animation footage this time, and it looks great.
Frankly, I'm not that big of a Key fan - but this shit sounds awesome, yo. I don't know why there would be a high school in the afterlife, or where do they get weapons to fight against angels, but all that ridiculousness just makes it awesome. If you start with a premise that makes this little sense, it's going to be either great or retarded. Not to mention, since everyone is dead already, there's a huge potential for dramatic stories - and drama is what Key does best.
The anime is going to be made by P.A. Works, which is quickly rising to be one of the best studios in anime these days - and this shows in the
PV. Some KyoAni fans will probably be disappointed, but frankly, I think it's for the best - especially considering the direction KyoAni heads in now.
I wasn't that excited about Angel Beats before - sure, I knew about it, but wasn't interested enough to bother reading about the story. But after seeing the PV, and actually reading about the series, it became one of the top things to wait for in spring 2010.
tl;dr
go watch the
PV, it's awesome.
