if she is thats anotehr cruel thing, Yuri shot her a number of times, l'm more likely to aggree tha tTenshi si going to change a bit her approach, shes just doing her job diligently, tough l highly doub't she knows who made her do it tough, l also don't think Yurippe is going to be a very easy target to persuade, it's not just stubbordiness that keeps her resolve, she gets it from her belif that God is an ass.

More like undeniable proof that God is a bitch. Are you telling me my life can be destroyed in the blink of an eye just because i was late in the combat training department?

My life has come close to disaster numerous times with alot of inevitable "dead ends" that were only averted because my family knows how to preform miracles.
Are you telling me just because some families that dont have the knowledge to survive get wiped out just like that!?
Did you know Satan was supposedly gods RIGHT HAND MAN, not his left. Blows your theory out of the water now doesn't it.

what chance had a little girl among the bandits that killed off her siblings ?
even if she had the knowledge, she wouldn't be able to stop those deaths.

Why do you have to look the same in the afterlife/battlefront as you did in real life? Tenshi can practically change her appearance at will anyway, generating digital blades out of nowhere etc.

On an unrelated note, I found myself listening to the recently released Girls Dead Monster insert song CD today, and I have to say, I now like this show even better... "Alchemy" is mega-<3

I was listening to it since Saturday or so.
I still think music in Angel Beats is somewhat weak(well not exactly - just below expectations) - it lacks any emotional impact, and when I heard each track for the first time in the anime it didn't leave any impression on me.
But after listening to it so far, I actually started liking the ED. Then during the weekend I left Crow Song and Alchemy on repeat while I was gaming(the first time I heard the insert single they felt like unimpressive, but polished and well done songs that would fit in the background), and after listening to them few dozen times, I actually grew really, really fond of them, especially Crow Song. Funny how that works.

Oh, and by the way - I think our theories about Yuri are mostly pointless, as there actually exists a prequel light novel of sorts that tells the story of the forming of SSS.

Yeah, you're right, I'm gonna have to get the ED single if/when it's out...
The first OP was kind of strange to me originally, but after watching some of those "OP1 and OP2 played simultaneously" videos, I feel like it makes a little more sense...

Totally forgot about the propulsion seats made me piss myself laughing for quite a long time. To be honest i kinda felt sorry for the Angel from the start she didn't strike me as the "bad guy" just as Yuri said doing her job as the student president, even though don't find that out till much later. When Otonashi talks to her in the classroom can feel she not evil or bad and she cares for the students as you said Havoc. She does have a very pretty name though, and so agreed i want more Angel Beats now.

l wonder if l'm correct or not about her tough, she is so sad most of the time, trying her hardest, sometimes l want to punch Yurippe for what shes doing, l know shes simply investigateing this matter, and making a fool of her is the side effect, oen thing is certain atm, tenshi does not control this world in any way.

To be perfectly honest its a catch 22 situation i feel for Kanade as she as you said a lonely sad person who is trying her hardest, but Yuri i feel very sorry for to as her situation when she was alive is and what happened, mean pissed off would not even cover it, but Yuri motives where based on the fact she was a Angel and so brought her closer to revenge god she well pretty much wanted to spit in his face after what happened, so its a very tough situation for both of them. Kanade is i think doing what she feel's as the right thing to do, as is Yuri.

thats why l found Otanashi's idea quite pleasing, and Yurippe didn't personally object, it will be hard to do, not impossible, definitly profitable, they would be able to understand the world better if they simply asked her about it, see how easy it was to get her name ?
simple question, and she gladly gave it, she even semed a bit happy about it, l wonder what it they actually made an effort into making her a friend, maybe she would even smile, l wonder how her honest smile would be like ;]

Raise a very good point's there Yuri did not object when Otanashi said she should join, but see a few red flags again with the rest of them all depends if Yuri looking at this objectively if so makes sense. Your right they would maybe be able to understand the world better, but if the Angel/human/cutename is like them she would be the one who been there the longest. Again why she does not come across as a bad guy she was happy he asked and listened to her, think maybe if she does not join Otanashi will try and talk to her at the very least, sure she will smile a honest smile soon when she has friends /hopes.

Tenshi's cuteness is a miracle of the universe.

Other than that, Tenshi being a normal girl is something I have long seen coming, so no surprise there. Pretty much whole episode, from "Tenshi is really a good girl" to Otonashi wondering about the purpose of SSS's actions was somewhat predictable, up to and including the new Student Council president being worse than Tenshi.
Propelled chair was brilliant though... At least the first time around. But they started reusing it, and then they used operation Tornado for the second time. Kinda annoyed me there, but I guess it served to stress the difference in Tenshi's behavior, so I'll let it slide.

Also, one thing - I ridiculed people who compared Angel Beats to Haruhi because of Yuri's character design, but it really starts to feel like Angel Beats' creators were... inspired by Haruhi. Between Yuri's behavior and mannerisms during the exams closely resembling Haruhi and Otonashi's feelings about Tenshi being similar to Kyon's towards Yuki, it started to feel like much more then just a coincidence.
I really don't want to throw accusations like that, but I can't help it.

l don't compare it to Haruhi cuz thats an insult, there are similarities, but wich anime isn't similar to another one ?

l want Tenshi to show us her character, she isn't controlling this world wich was proven with her demotion, l really would like to see her joining Yurippe now, if l'm at least slightly correct l think yurippe would be the only person who could help her move on, if l'm wrong, still aquiring her into the group and starting acting more responsibly would help them.

reusing the old trick was necessary, they use it to get the food tickets after all, the NPCs won't die if they skip a few meals, after all.

Otonashi altough not having his own memories, probably only relies on instinct and common sense right now, and bases his judgements on observations or everything taking place around him, dunno if you noticed but hes still unsure if what Yurippe is doing is the right thing or not, hes helping them because he doesn't want to dissapear, but tbh they don't really know why, l mean, if l became a worm in my next life what does it matter? l won't remember the after life, nor the life before it, who knows, maybe those that dissapeared became much stronger now and will have a decent happy life (hell l don't belive what l'm writing) that is a possibility aint it ?

they revolt because they hate the way their life went.

Oh come, Angel Beats isn't THAT bad ;)

That's what I wrote about. Their whole "revolt" seems to be childish and built on a silly premise, at least that's what it seems now, and it's obvious that Otonashi as a character serves to question its meaning and purpose.
One thing that really bothered me, if Tenshi only developed her powers and started opposing SSS because they were causing disturbance, then why cause disturbance in the first place? I thought that Yuri regarded Tenshi as proof of existence of god at first? But then, if at start Tenshi wasn't their opponent, there would be no reason to rebel in the first place - since there was no one to rebel about. They could just skip classes if they were worried about disappearing, and leave it like that. But obviously that didn't happen. If Tenshi's powers were a response to them using the guild to make weapons - what did they make the weapons for in the first place?
I really want to read the prequel novel, time to find out if someone bothered translating it.

l didn't mean an insult that way, the two series are completely different comparing any anime for just similarities is an insult to anime shows.

I saw the first chapter up on TT a few weeks ago, but it was a translation into English from the Chinese version or something. I haven't read it yet to comment on readability.

As for the ep, I'm glad they finally had a Tenshi-centric one even if a lot of it was kind of predictable.  It fits kind of since Yuri is making it up as she goes along and she'll go with plots she remembered from her life. I'm also really glad that Yuri and Otonashi finally came out and said
(click to show/hide)

I actually thought of the Haruhi comparison this morning, except the whole situation felt more like Tenshi is Haruhi (sans personality) and created her own personal Hell in this school with Yuri as her nemesis. It's probably a bad parallel and the series stand on their own, but whatever my kid woke me up too early.

Tenshi being normal planted the seeds in ep3 when she said something along the lines of "It's like they're making me out to be the bad guy." Right now, Tenshi is the only character I care remotely about because except for a brief flashback in Yuri's and baseball kid's memories Tenshi is the only character we've somewhat met. Everyone else is cardboard as far as I'm concerned :)
