Actually, I am also worried about the pacing of the series, but in a slightly different way. The first ep had to cram a lot in to expose what the series is about, so they needed to have the fight scene and the concert scene and the slapstick hit-counter and all that, but I'm worried that later episodes might be boring in comparison if they are too simple or focus too much on one element.
I mean, it wouldn't be good if the next episode was all talking and jokes like the middle third of this episode was. I'm sure it will reach a favorable equilibrium at some point, though, and then of course, being a Key show, they'll pull the rug out from under you in a completely predictable way, and you will fall nonetheless.

It's not that they didn't have a lot to cover in the first episode but it has more to do with the fact that they were trying to explain the premise of the series and trying to cram in enough action to keep you interested.

The problem the plot now faces is exactly what you said in your earlier post. It can't keep the same jolt like pacing and it really can't slow down ether or risk losing touch with it's audience. Now the plot pacing has to realign itself somehow without the viewer knowing about it which is not an easy feat once you already have a set pace and mindset for where the story is going.

Mazui will give you nice Speedsubs, and Static Subs will probably be the best slowsub (i.e., I would bet on their version being accepted to bakabt after the show is over).

So sad Chihiro dropped this.  :'( I downloaded mazui's version and it looked pretty good, then again I'm not the best judge on quality.

I don't know what to think after watching the first episode. There is a bit of humor but wasn't that great(may be because its late), the action, visuals and music were were of high quality. But I don't know where its going, will it the usual depressing Key with a good love story? I guess we will see.

I don't know whose fansub I downloaded, it just had the symbol  ℵ₀. The subs weren't the best anyway.

After watching episode 01 I don't know what to think of it yet. One thing for sure is the comedy. But as seen in previous Key adaptations the mood can change quickly.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

yeh Key is famous for that, it's what actually made them so good, they do great twists, if it follows their reputation it will be a very good show ;]

After seeing episode two, I've already decided that this will be my favorite of this season.

Haruhi and Nagato in the afterworld, with Key's comedy and the intense drama that is sure to come.

I think I like the "You can't die" component.  It allows for characters to die in hilariously glorious ways over and over again.  The whole second episode was created to have fun with this, but I hope it continues in future eps (and I'm pretty sure it will).

the rule "you can't die" doesn't mean they are completely immortal in a sense.

l liked the little story Yuri told us, she has all the reasons of the world to hate God. Thats Key for you there.

that bit made the series even more interesting.

l wonder why you guys keep reffering to Haruhi, since altough characters and stuff resemble Haruhi, it's Angel Beats, don't make the same mistakes you did with K-On! and SoRaWoNoTo.

I'm just going to agree and say I loved the second episode. If they keep it up it will definitely become a "must watch ASAP" show.  The deaths and movie shout-outs were great. TK and Shiina are awesome.  Anyone recognize what film the waterfall scene was from (if it was)? I keep thinking I should know it, but I can't seem to place it.

Anyhow, it didn't even click for me that Yuri likes Otonashi until she stormed away when he commented that Shiina liking cute things makes her cute.  I just figured the guy that fell came up on the back side of her and took her "hold onto whatever" statement too literally.

Also, regarding the groups that are subbing this. Has anyone with any language skills watched the UTW subs and can comment on their quality? They read pretty easy from the half of one episode that I watched, and I didn't think they did a bad job with Summer Wars even if they're a fairly new group.
