Need to clear external
sungman:
Recently I accidentally installed Ubuntu on my WD 1 TB external and its taking up a good portion of the hard drive. I can't find a way to uninstall Ubuntu off the harddrive.
Takeshi:
Delete the entire thing, move your files to somewhere else (that is if you have anything else on it) and re-format?
newy:
Sorry for the question but why would someone install an OS (I hope that Ubuntu is an OS, I don't know Linux and its different versions) on an external HD?
Your question: Format?

You don't need to repartition your drive or add another drive for linux.
Reformatting the drive will remove the files but not the bootloader

If you don't really have files you need, I'd say wipe the disk and reformat.
If you do have your own files on the HD, I'd say delete the Ubuntu partitions. If you have Vista or 7 I'm pretty sure you can use Disk Management (run → diskmgmt.msc) to locate the Ubuntu paritions and delete them (Make sure to confirm that it's your Ubuntu partition! Restoring your data after you delete a partition nears the impossible). You can also try using terminal to delete the entire OS... I know there's a command somewhere that wipes the system files clean.

That wouldn't be a problem unless he needs to install another OS on it, shouldn't it?
