Windows Vista/7 Godmode

ok, the main idea was to have all of the windows controls gathered in one place by renaming a new folder to GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} . From the way I see it though, if it existed since vista's days, why was it not put somewhere under plain sight instead of having to do such a move to reach it? and why name it godmode? doesn't really sound like something that was meant to be officially included in the OS :S

P.S. I heard vista x64 crashes with this.

Vista crashes just fine without it as well. I regularly got BSoDs every few minutes just after 1 week of use

Edit: lol GodMode really exists...

this folder/function isn't named godmode, that's just how you named it as you renamed the folder - the important part is the string behind the dot.
for example OddMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} works too! :D

So it depends on the part after the dot, I'd say extension but this is a folder here. Still, I can't get to try this because I'm still an XP user  :(

Unless your hardware is over ten years old, you really should upgrade to 7.

This is actually pretty handy. It's what the Control Panel should look like.

Why "ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C". Why not "ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01D". What does that string refer to?

The string points to something in the registry. For example, if you get the string for the recycle bin, you could make a fully functional recycle bin anywhere you want and name it anything you want.

Heh, you can get a full list of Canonical Names of Control Panel Items here off from Microsoft's 'trusty' MSDN documentation:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee330741%28VS.85%29.aspx

Really, God Mode doesn't exist officially, it's just somebody named it that way to gather attention.

It Is doable, my recycle bin is named 'The Abyss' :D (and I don't mean the shortcut, once you open it the folder itself is named 'The Abyss'...)

Though forgotten where I got the tip how to do it...
