"My monitor caught flame"
"Hmm, what brand of speakers do you have"
"...kipsch"
"ah, thats the problem. We've had many customer's whose speakers resulted in a short in the monitor thus causing they to catch fire, or in some cases even explode. You should feel lucky."

Happened with Netgear and HP xD lol my wifi wasnt connecting to a netgear router. called netgear, they directed me to hp without any regard to the issue, it was immediately "the issue is your laptop, contact hp"  contacted hp "your wlan settings are correct, it is an issue with the modem call netgear" back and forth back and forth :/ solution? bought new Linksys router

@ no luck on the ISO.

I've done the same, but I got a free fix. Maybe Sony America is an uber douche and Sony Canada is awesome? I have no idea. Though I recall once emailing Sony USA by accident and got a reply email like, "Umm, we can't help you. Contact Sony Canada (No info on Sony Canada either, but a quick google got me the info) This is for issues with Sony products in the USA. (Purchase in USA not required for grief. :P) So far? 1x mobo replacement (for free I might add save for personal drop off even though they would have sent a box for free to get it fixed) even though I later found out it was my own fault. I also have several aftermarket upgrades within my laptop but they didn't even bother to say anything about it or make an excuse as to trying to get out of the fix. (One was the HDD the other was the ram. Seriously what else can you really upgrade in a laptop? Not to mention I opened upt the damn thing myself, and that's not an issue?) They even cleaned out the whole laptop for free which was a total surprise.  And now, I know that I can get my laptop fixed officially by Sony for a very decent price (which I was prepared to pay due to "Sony horror stories"). Though it was sort of strange to drop off my laptop with no case and no cables (power cord etc.) and receive it back wrapped in saran wrap (even though I went to pick it up myself)

HP on the other hand... puts stickers on everydamnthingthatc anbeopenedorhasascr ewonitandifyoubreak thesealitwillvoidwa rranty... Dunno if the USA is the same for HP products.

Sony isn't bad... if you're not in the USA. I don't know why Sony USA is really douchey (Word?)

But yeah, Sony, you pay for style and in the rare case, function. Mine was function. It had the specs I needed and a weight that no other brand could match even remotely. (Sony vaio SZ series was much lighter and looked a damn lot nicer than the other 13.3" laptops when I bought mine at a price point of $1000 CAD over a year ago) The closest I got was the Toshiba portege which was 200 bucks less, but almost 80% more weight and specs that were lower. (lower grade processor and vid card)
