Gunslinger Girl on BD

has anyone checked the BD of this? I had the original on my HD a long time ago (when it first came out) but never watched it. Im gonna give it a quick look and see if its worth snagging. Its on sale for 30 bucks for the BD of season 1 right now so i figured i may give it a look. Im not asking about the series, im asking about the BD quality. Im not really finding any reviews of it and its a fairly old series, im not really sure if it would gain anything from going BD. Is it just a half assed upscale or what?

has anyone snagged it or seen it? was gonna buy some stuff tomorow and not sure if i should throw this on the list or just snag the DVD. Not a big price difference.

Apparently it's an upscale, at least for the first season. But the release has been pushed back to March, so no one's seen it yet.

sadly l only seen the first season of this show, l liked it a lot, but for some reason never had the chance to watch the second one, l think it's about time l did watch it :]

ah, well that would explain why i coudn't find reviews for it, lol. I didn't notice it was a preorder.

the fansubs i have from back in the day seem to be a mix of anbu and AONE they're very odd looking. it says theyre 4:3 on ADB, but when i play them theres odd grey bars with designs on the top and bottom making it look like its widescreen or something in a ghetto letterbox format

what the heck are these suposed to be? The blu ray shows it being a 4:3 ratio, while the DVD's show a 16:9... which is it? its very odd the BD and DVD are shown as different AR's. I checked ADB and it lists them as 4:3, so its very strange that the DVD's are listed as 16:9. Did they crop it to gheto widescreen it like they did for the Kenshin OVA directors cut?

I would consider just getting the DVDs for now but i may wait for the BD's, the only thing that has me wondering is this widescreen thing

and btw havoc i heard the first seasons the only good one. A lot of people seemed to hate the 2nd season for some reason. I think they just do their own thing and ignore the manga or something

First and second season anime have a lot of scenes out of order compared to the manga actually. The manga is incredible, but the 2nd season of the anime wasn't great at all. They switched out all the voice actors, gave it a happier mood, and ruined the entire ending to the first season.

I really hope for a widescreen version of the BD for this series, but I was let down with 4:3 BD for Eureka Seven so I expect nothing less from another of my favorites.

I really wouldn't mind a 3rd season of this anime if they did it properly. Petrushka is one of my favorite characters in the manga, but the anime didn't get far enough to introduce her.
