First and second season anime have a lot of scenes out of order compared to the manga actually. The manga is incredible, but the 2nd season of the anime wasn't great at all. They switched out all the voice actors, gave it a happier mood, and ruined the entire ending to the first season.

I really hope for a widescreen version of the BD for this series, but I was let down with 4:3 BD for Eureka Seven so I expect nothing less from another of my favorites.

I really wouldn't mind a 3rd season of this anime if they did it properly. Petrushka is one of my favorite characters in the manga, but the anime didn't get far enough to introduce her.

happier mood? From what i read the whole point is its a pretty dark and depressing situation/story. That seems really odd

Maybe if i enjoy it i'll check out the manga

what is the show SUPPOSED to be? widescreen or 4:3? im really confused. Im not sure why the BD would be 4:3 and the DVD's would be widescreen, that makes no sense to me

Aneroph:
Yes, the whole point was to be dark and depressing....hence why the second season sucked because they tried to make it happy.

From what I can tell, S1 is 4:3 and S2 is Widscreen in DVD. BD will most likely follow suit.

kenshin-dono:
then if season 1 is supposed to be 4:3 why the heck are the DVD releases listed as 16:9? Thats the part that has me screwed up and not sure what to purchase

Zalis116:
I've never seen any TV-fansubs for Gunslinger Girl S1, just the R1 DVDs and bits and pieces of the anime.fin DVD-rips. My guess is that S1 was broadcast with a 4:3 image, with letterboxing/decorative bars to frame the actual show. Since the actual animation was drawn/made in 16:9, the DVDs were made in 16:9. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary when watching the DVDs, although it's been about 3-4 years since I've seen the show. I don't know why the BD's would be 4:3. Maybe they're going to be like the broadcasts, maybe there's a mistake in the info, who knows. We'll have to wait till they come out.

Why would you want a 16:9 version of Eureka 7? The show was made in 4:3, so unless they went back and re-did the animation (unlikely), any 16:9 version would be cropped or stretched, neither of which is a good option.

l actually really enjoyed the S1 ending, it was very fitting, but l'll watch the S2 nonetheless, the girls situation is quite sad if you think about it, at least one of them would rather die than continue on living, but l think it was a really good point of view at the same time,
l'm currently DLing ED version, dual audio so l'll have to kick out the english dub (wich most likely is horrible as usual, but l will not even try) and probably watch it on sunday.
