Anyone with Retail NTSC Star Blazers DVD's

I mean legit retail copies.

I have ISO's from usenet, but the authoring on the first disc I've looked at is fucking whack.   It's got 3 large VOB's,  and then a smaller one close to the same size, and a couple other smaller one.  But apparently this disc has  more than the 3 episodes I assumed (from just 3 large VOB's, naturally)  and looking at one of the smaller ones, it looks like it is made up of multiple parts of other episodes,  ending credits, etc.

I mean WTF.. Was this some fucked up form of copy protecting from back in the day or what?   I'm not sure how to approach ripping it into proper episodes I can work on..  do I need to use something like DVD Decrypter, that will rip by  PGC ?

I just want to confirm that retail discs came like this, and what I'd need to do, to get proper episode rips off correctly.

Also.. Shame on the fuckers who did this transfer.. HORRIBLE  grain / noise contamination and  dot crawl to boot.

Yes, they (dvds) come with those vob parts...

You need to learn about dgindex, dv2, avs,  and a bunch of other items concerning ripping... That would take long to explain, so may I suggest a visit to Doom10.

Please read my thread before making some condescending "n00b", post.  All the tools you mentioned, have nothing to do with what I was asking about,  never mind that I am well familiar with them.

Was it really that hard to say,  "Yeah just use DVD Decrypter in IFO mode and you can sort through all the chapters in order" ?  (Which I did btw).   Or even,  "Yeah my DVD's are like that too, but I really don't know the answer to your question, try here"? 

This DVD was put together stupidly anyway..  11 Chapters in the first PGC,  chapter 1 is the opening credits,  all the others are A+B pairs of each episode (5 in all).   And for some dumb reason the ending credits get their own brand new PGC.

Oh well,  gives me a chance to experiment with making an MKV with linked segments (or whatever its called)  and not have to waste space on OP/ED for each episode.
