external HD labels for seeding
« on: January 21, 2010, 05:37:15 AM »
Im not sure if this is the right forum to ask this i figured this would be the best bet.

i have most of my anime on external HDs. 2 of them, an older maxtor and a newer samsung. The newer samsung used to be under the volume label E for all my torrents, and the older one under F

well the problem is they somehow got switched up. The computer now recognizes the Samsung as F and the Maxtor as E so all my torrents are not pathed correctly anymore, its a huge pain in the ass. Ive tried plugging them into various different slots and nothing works it keeps recognising them reversed. Im not sure how that happened i think it was when i used a little USB drive last week

Does anyone know how i can go in and set them back to the sammy being E and the maxtor being F?  Im not gonna go in and manually repath ALL my torrents, especially if itll just reverse itself again somehow

Info, its a dell xps laptop, there are 4 usb slots, with the back 2 being for my mouse and keyboard, and the side 2 being for the externals. Running windows xp

Faster way to get to the panel: Right-click My Computer --> Manage, Click on Disk Management. Find the corresponding storage volume, right-click --> Change drive letter.

That's for Windows XP, but IIRC it should work in Windows 7 as well.
