Mass Effect 2

Tiffanys:
I found the first one really really confusing... I just kinda stumbled through everything and I don't think I did hardly any of the side stuff, mostly just the main required things cause I was so damn confused and had no idea what to do. The second one was a lot better with that, it was a lot more intuitive and easier to figure out.

There was a lot of neat romance and Specter stuff in the first though. And lol... cutting the council off every time they call you (I didn't personally, but I watched a video of it!).

My girl was such a badass though... ^_^ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIafqdTj31M

Luls, most of the time nowadays I hear people complaining about games being too easy and short.
Now Tiff's complaining about an RPG being too hard to figure out about what to do. Luls.  ;D

Ahhh, yesss....Cutting the council. I did that. Awesome feeling. Especially after they bitch to you about it the next time and you just shut the thing off again. ;D

- the shrank together equip upgrades suck
- the shrank together equip choices suck
- the shrank together talents suck
- the shrank together squad management sucks
- the new ammo system sucks

Am so relieved that someone else noticed the above.
I hated ME2 as the devs pretty much completely eviscerated it, the only thing that was better ........ was the eye candy ..... surprise surprise.
ME1 is one of the few games i have played from start to finish 3 or more times, can only pray that ME3 will return to the side of light with ME1 mechanics and gameplay .... but i very much doubt it.

SeventyX7:
I agree, the changes to equipment was a HUGE downside to ME2.

The best part of ME1 was finding an awesome gun off some random drop and getting the perfect mods for it.  Sniper rifles with +345345345 heat and +1000% damage were SO fun.

Talents-wise, I'm okay with what they did.  ME1 ended with your chars being WAY op because of how talents worked.

Combat was much better in ME2, it was more streamlined and I liked the ammo system.  Anything to make the game more challenging is welcomed to me.

I don't really understand what you mean by shrank squad management...do you mean how you can't equip them?  They have pretty much the same equipment options as the commander, so 3 of your complaints really fall under a single category of "equipment elimination."

Tiffanys:
I thought it was better in ME2 actually... Having less equipment choices (no inventory) made it a lot more simple. The first one was really overwhelming with all that stuff.

The talents in the second one made more sense too, there were skills and you ranked up the skills. The first one, it was really obscure. Like, you had to rank up an assault rifle with like 9 points just to learn how to use a sniper rifle? Stupid! And then some other things just give some random obscure skills, and worse than all that...... if you don't have something with stupid decryption and electronics maxed, your life gets like 500x harder.

I agree about the ammo though... it was nice with it just overheating and not have to deal with running out of ammo or finding more ammo, that's such a PITA (you can edit the ini to change it for PC version though).

Squad management... I guess you mean controlling what they do? I thought it was fine. I mean, you could tell them where to move to and what skills to use, so it was pretty good.

They did change not being able to make your companions wear 234324 different outfits I guess, but they do at least have an alternate one after their loyalty mission or maybe more if you have the DLC (I think?). But, your armor didn't really have as much diversity either, although... it was much nicer being able to totally dye the armor however you want. I didn't like any of the non-Onyx armors anyways, especially the heavy ones cause they looked all huge and weird...

I did like being able to slap omni-gel on everything too, cause those mini-games are retarded, in both games. The first one, it was impossible for me to do most the time, so I just had to give myself a ton of omni-gel with console and just do it that way. The second one.... well... I have to just grit my teeth and do them, or not, which sucks. At least with the two upgrades they aren't very hard... just seems like a waste of time to have to spend 15-30 seconds doing some stupid mini-game for like 900-15000 credits when it's so easy to just give myself like 500k with the editor. Kinda forced to do it for the upgrades though...

Well, that's what I think anyways.

The one thing I really didn't like about the second was the Shadow Broker DLC I think.... with the Liara romance. She makes such a huge deal about coming back from the Omega-4 relay and always coming back...... but after you come back and go to see her, she just gives that same old monotone "I'm glad you came" message and you can't even talk to her... ughh...

Oh, but I really love Kasumi Goto... always fun to have around.
