It has been announced a while ago that it is going to be the last DLC. They said that during their announcement that they'd disable the Cerberus Network News. They'd disable the News and reactivate it a week before the last DLC and before ME3. That was at the end of Jan, I think.

Ah, and just when I thought I was keeping up-to-date with Mass Effect news ;D

Oh, and I completed Mass Effect yesterday, I gotta say, I'm almost happy I tried the second game first instead of playing the first game and becoming as frustrated as you guys:

(click to show/hide)I'm not the big strategic so I almost never commanded my comrades to do anything but revive them when they died or ordered them to attack a specific enemy when they seemed like they weren't responding. They weren't good at attacking the enemy. I didn't find such problems in Mass Effect 2. Sometimes they got killed due to not knowing how to take cover. If you want something done, gotta do it yourself. Almost ended up having to take care of the enemy myself.

Also, conversations between my men was a nice chance. I don't think that was in ME2 either.

I do like the combat system better in Mass Effect 2, it felt very limited going from ME2 to ME1. Like Bioware has refined it. I also liked that you could jump over obstacles in ME2 when you had been covering against it. But it grew on me, and I finished the game in 20 hours, I think. I do think ME1 had a bad start due to my great experience of playing ME2. Pretty disappointing you can't continue to play after you finish the game, you could do that in ME2, right? I still got missions to do. :(

Something I enjoyed was the role-playing element where you assign specific weapons to your men. In ME2 it was just a few weapons like blubart mentioned, and I honestly didn't feel a big difference, not enough to care anyway. There was weapons which worked best for shields and some for organic lifeforms, but as I said, not enough difference to care. Also, please add a "calmer button" for ME3, it was pretty frustrating to pull out the sniper and just waiting for the crosshair to flow over the target. I ended up using my assault rifle the most until it magically overheated during my battle with Saren. Damn, he was annoying in the final battle, only needed two tries to take him down though.

The level up system was okay. Only a few things I cared about, the Intimidate, and Social abilities. Also, each character's individual powers. I think Wrex' was called Krogan Battlemaster. Regarding my teammates I went for a balance in the three values. Almost always picked Liara and Tali. Although I do like my MAN team consiting of Wrex and Garrus. "Let's go, guys.  8)  "

Hitting 150 items and having to convert stuff to Omni-gel was pretty annoying, especially since you got 150 items again very fast. Then again, I don't remember having a shortage of ammo so it's not something I really noticed. I do enjoy reloading, but the overheating was a pretty nice implement in ME1.

But searching through your weapons and seeing that there's one where it's all yellow was pretty exiting. I like situations where you prepare yourself for an enemy, and use a good amount of time to pick the best set-up. It reminds me of Final Fantasy, especially IX which I've been playing where there's a good amount of stuff you can pick for the coming battle. VII too, although VIII is very limited.

Also, a much more engaging story for ME1 than ME2, having a villain really helped the story. Hopefully, they'll go back to basics while picking the best stuff from ME2.
Imo, this is what ME3 needs to contain:
- an engaging story
- a villain
- overheat
- role-playing elements regarding weapons
- more choices with real consequences

More stuff but these are the main points.

the official forum topic about suggestions is like 4 pages long, and it's not the only one, however, me and some people there did point out what you did, and a lot more, first of all, (click to show/hide)in ME2 we were promised more customization, I'd still like to know where is that customization ? did I miss anything ?
I know there are armor parts all over the galaxy, and plenty of weapon and other upgrades, but that is not customization, that is typical for any RPG actually, first game lacked that part,

funny how they changed thermo clips into actual ammo 15 minutes into the game, they are supposed to prevent overheating but without them you can do shit, if a weapon overheats it's rate of fire should drop considerably, instead they went shit on us,

weapons aren't very balanced in ME2, so is armor, and I miss not having influence on armor my team is wearing, personally I would clad Tali in a massive armor with guns on it, just to have fun,

ammo powers is bullocks, it should have different mechanic, like improving the effectiveness of ammo type you use instead of dictating what ammo you CAN use,

weapon usage restriction is also shit, at some point Tali uses an assault riffle in a cinematic, but can't use it in actual combat, I was like WTF !!
there are many more lore and actual inconsistencies, and the entire thread is filled with ideas that actually are decent, at least 70% of them.

I know that, I just didn't have the time to go through the entire page and point out what I agreed with and not so let's just imagine me agreeing with the ones who wrote the same stuff as me. ;D Moreover, I enjoyed posting the rant.

Conclusive information has been released. Last DLC is out on March 29th.

You're sent on a mission to rescue an Alliance scientist (most probably Dr. Amanda Kenson from the last Cerberus Network News reports, though some claim it's to be Kahlee Sanders from the novels, but I doubt that) and reveal the invasion of the Reapers or something in that manner.

Admiral Hackett will finally make his first appearance (at least to my memories).

Nice! So soon too! I thought it'd be something like April or May! ;D

Thank you Bioware for not announcing this like weeks away. This means we only need to wait 11 days. I already got ME2 installed. I played the Shadow Broker DLC a week ago. Might just go for some more gameplay so I am well adjusted to ME2's settings, did play ME for 25 hours some weeks ago.

Lol, I wonder how the masses would react if Bioware waited with announcing ME3 until a week before its release day? Probably not many sales, but quite the stir with people who have been waiting for it. :D
