Mass Effect 2
blubart:
i'm only through the first two planets but my first impression is that ME2 is worse than ME1 - and to blame are clearly those fucking console players. why does every game created for pc and consoles has to be dumbed down to the shitty level of console games?
- the shrank together equip upgrades suck
- the shrank together equip choices suck
- the shrank together talents suck
- the shrank together squad management sucks
- the new ammo system sucks

Because console gamers nowadays make up a larger portion of the consumer market. If you ran a business, would you market your product to the larger number of people or the smaller number?
Yeah it sucks, but what can you do?

to those who played.. is there any way to check what key decisions you made or anything before you start playing? I played ME1 more than any game i own. I beat it 7 times with tons of different characters and i honestly dont remember which ones did what =P If theres no way to check i'll have to do a quick playthrough again with the ones i want to transfer >_<
also.. what gives? are your old characters recruitable or not? I heard they just make cameos. I want to Roxxorz with Wrex/garus again god damnit! especially Wrex. I wouldn't mind hooking up with Ashley again either.

(click to show/hide)Do you remember Rana (Asari) from Virmire. According to my favorite game magazine, if you let her live she'll appear in ME2 on another planet and tries to correct her mistakes in ME. If this means that she is still an enemy or helping you in a mission... that I don't know
And as I said in the post before you, you get a bonus. The higher your level in ME the better the bonus.
And you can see how your character looks like with the improved engine :D

(click to show/hide)i dont really remember Rana.. can you clarify who she was? thats not hte chick that you go kill her mercenary sister for a bio implant is it?
its very strange.. i would have thought id be totally stoked about this game but after playing DA origins i kinda lost interest in this game for some reason. I st5alled partway through DA, the bugs and junk were annoying and the combat was very clunky. The 'streamlined' stuff ive read about this game sounds kinda lame to me actually

Rana is that asari scientist in Virmir studying shit for Saren but becomes aware of the danger of indoctrination, you can either let her go and she freaks out and runs because you tell her you're about to blow that shit up or you can kill her
As far as checking what decisions you made, the only thing I can think of is that you hopefully have a save right before the end and check your journal since it tells you what happened after you made your decision but I'm not 100% sure everything shows up here but some do.
Carnivus:
The ME2 save system shows you your level, class, and important decision such as (click to show/hide)the status of the council or Wrex, the path you chose,Renegade or Paragon.
ME2 doesn't really feel like ME1.Just as blubart said, they toned down ME2 to a level that it's hardly and RPG.ME1 was shooter-RPG,but this one is shooter with a trail of RPG.I think that Bioware could've done a slightly different version for PC,with all the necessary RPG incorporations.
About Rana
(click to show/hide)guess it or not,she finds trouble yet again on Illium. You have the same choices, but now killing her sounds really bad since she isn't doing much.
One thing I loved about ME2 is
(click to show/hide)the Archangel.I only thought that might be Garrus when I saw his blue armor, but even then it was just a small hope.
Another thing I hate about ME2 is that one button gets you talking, running and covering.M
E2 was clearly made more as a shooter.I see EA's hand on this one, because DA:O didn't need to tone down the RPG part.
The new bullet system is a double edge sword;you do have to reload a lot, bullets fly out very fast, but there's a ton on the ground,so never have to worry about them.
