can someone go ahead and spoil me on what 2 those are? God i hope one of them is Wrex.. are there more or is it only 2?
Also, i heard you actually have ammo in this game? Plz tell me thats not true. That totally goes against the ME universe from the novels i read. Plus it would be a problem for those who can only use weaker guns and have to plink away wasting tons of ammo

As far as squaddies go you get

(click to show/hide) Garrus and Tali back, everyone else shows up if they lived in your previous game but they are not recruitable.

Liara shows up in Illium

Either Kaidan/Ashley shows up in Horizon

Wrex is in his homeworld if he lived in your ME file, if you dont have an ME file and play default then he is dead and replaced by his brother.

As far as ammo goes:

(click to show/hide) The idea is still the same that you accelerate small particles via mass effect but now they introduced heat sinks to keep the gun from overheating, aka you no longer have overheat but there is an ammo system. Ammo is always there though, I doubt you'd run out of ammo unless you just spam guns and never use abilities.

The whole heating thing was already in the game but not for guns in ME, it was for ships traveling via FTL drives.

Hope that helped.

(edit ftw.)

and yes, weapons use "termal clips" (ammo) to dissipate heat. and because those "termal clips" can only take a limited amount of heat they have to be changed (reloaded) regularly. luckily dead enemies drop "termal clips".
- i wonder if it took them more time to implement this ammo change or to think about an explanation for its functionality.

(click to show/hide) After analyzing geth advances in weaponry, the Alliance retrofitted every weapon in service with a thermal clip system developed by the geth.

Thermal clips hold a store of disposable heat sinks universal to all small arms. Instead of waiting for an overheated weapon to cool down, you can simply eject the spent heat sink and the clip feeds in a new one. This allows for a greater sustained rate of fire and more numerous impacts on targets down range.

The HUD element in the lower left corner shows how many shots are left in your weapons thermal clip. The bar below the number is the progress towards expending your current heat sink.

Modern infantry weapons are micro-scaled mass accelerators, using mass-reducing fields and magnetic force to propel miniature slugs to lethal speeds. Nearly every gun on the battlefield is laden with features, from targeting auto-assists to projectile shavers that can generate thousands of rounds of ammunition from a small, internal block of metal.

It was long thought that personal weapons had plateaued in performance, but the geth proved all theories wrong. Mathematically reviewing their combat logs, the geth found that in an age of kinetic barriers, the weapon with the most rounds down-range the fastest wins. Combatants were forced to deliberately shoot slower to manage waste heat or pause as their weapons vented.

To eliminate this inefficiency, the geth adopted detachable heat sinks known as thermal clips. While organic arms manufacturers were initially doubtful this would produce a net gain, a well-trained soldier can eject and swap thermal clips in under a second. Faced with superior enemy firepower, organic armies soon followed the geth's lead and today's battlefields are littered with these thermal clips.

In Mass Effect 2, the player can manually "reload" a thermal clip at any time, or Shepard will automatically do so when the current clip becomes unusable. Clips are designed to be universal, so the player doesn't need to carry seperate clips for each weapon. They can be obtained from fallen enemies.
It's from the Codex.

For people who want to play ME2 but didn't have ME1 save files and do not want the default ME2 setting of past events this website has savefiles of different playthroughs of other peoples ME1 Shepards:

Actually the talk about the thermal clips being from Geth tech reminded me; wasn't what we choose happen to the Indian soldier lady's body supposed to have some ramification on ME2? This seems to indicate that it should, but I didn't notice anything.

I think she was mentioned once in citadel news... something about how her husband went back to earth and started a restaurant or something.

Most of those are like that. Minor news stories and/or emails.

Actually you also meet up with most on Illium, like the Asari chicks(the one on the Virmire lab and the one on Feros),that woman from Noveria,Giana Parasini or something along the lines, there is also a side quest to persuade someone to aid those Feros collonists etc.

Is this one as depressingly humorless and lacking in personality as the first?
