New monitor
« on: January 24, 2010, 10:32:42 AM »
Hello, im buying a new LCD monitor, my fav. pick would be SAMSUNG SyncMaster 2243BW. The price is 186 Euros, but im considering any new models up to 200 Euros. The 2243 BW might be a bit outdated but since i have no idea about monitors i'd need some help :)

3k:1 real contrast...nice. I think my SyncMaster 206BW has a 800:1 contrast ratio. I know it has a 3000:1 dynamic (aka bullshit) contrast ratio because its printed very plainly in the upper right hand corner.

i can highly recommend Samsung as well.  my eyes get bothered by ginormous screens so i chose the
T200 which i procured for
$150 US.  It has 1680x1050 resolution the same as the 22 inch and has 2,000 dynamic and 1,000 real contrast ratios.

i am thinking of getting a 1920x1080 monitor later this year.
btw- Samsung's "Touch of Color" series look quite beautiful compared to other brands monitors.

i disagree.  the 2243 does have 2 usb inputs but has a lower refresh rate of 5ms compared to the
T200's 2ms.   the refresh rate is a deal killer for me at the 1680x1050 resolution.

i would get a 23 inch 1920x1080 model like this.

I like how it has other connections in the back aside from just DVI. I could hook up a game console to the monitor in addition to my computer.

I noticed a few weeks ago that my TV, Monitor, and Phone are all Samsung products.  Both my TV and Monitor get turned on by the same remote, even though my TV is like 10 years old; makes searching for a remote easier, but can get annoying if I am not careful >.<

Anyways I <3 Samsung also :)

I use my 60" HDTV as a monitor. I find it's just about right.

Beware, massive awesomeness will result if you can get it to work. Essentially you need decent hardware.

One other warning. Once you start, it is painful going back. After using a 73" DLP TV for my monitor for a month, I had trouble going back to my 22" Samsung SyncMaster 2220wm
