New tech needed-support appreciated.
Carnivus:
Well, things here got old,and with all this new tech I feel old.
I want to have the following upgrades:
1.PC system upgrade:
Well,my PC had his 3rd birthday, which was celebrated by a 3 day marathon of ME1 continued with one day with 11h and a half in ME2.
Things run perfectly,a bit laggy here and there, but no other issue.However,ME2 isn't so demanding.
Well, enough about me and my PC.Let's concentrate on him. When I bought him 3 years ago,he could run perfectly Crysis, which at that time meant a lot.I remember spending on it about 550 euros, everything less speakers, monitor and inputs(keyboard and mouse). He has 2Gb or RAM,a intel dual-core of 2.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 2600+ Pro as his video card.Aside from acquiring new HDDs,nothing has changed.
I am looking for some upgrades.Basically,I'll buy another 2/4 Gb of RAM,since one 25 euros, the processor will likely be a quad core Inel of 4GHz,and at the video card I'm really stuck.I don't want nVidia, since it has quite a lot of issues, but any suggestion is welcomed.
2.A new TV:
Don't get me wrong,I love my 102/107cm wide(never clearly understood) HD Ready Sony Bravia. But as an avid and PS3 gamer fan of movies,I want a LCD with Full HD capabilities. In my opinion,I'd still take a Full HD Sony Bravia with the same specifications, but I need some advice.I don't want to regret the money I'll spend on it.
3.A surround system:
I really want/need this.I have my TV connected through an DVI-HDMI cable to my PC,and am using it as my second monitor.I still didn't figure out a way to make the sound come out through the TV's speakers, not the PCs.Anyway,I'm sick of these stereo speakers.Really sick.I'd personally would go with Sony again, since a lot of my hardware at home is Sony(PS3,TV),but I'm really out in the cold on sound systems,so I really need your help on this one.
And yes,I intentionally spoke of my PC as a living thing, since I love him.Ok,this just sounds wrong..I'll shut up now.
Takeshi:
Well, you'll probably dislike me for this, but do be sure you have enough money (seeing as you're 15 and probably living at home, I doubt you have the same economic worries as me though), you won't regret it and you really need these things. My mother once said to think one extra time before deciding any big purchases. Do I really this? Will this make me happy, or leave a hole in my pocket? boring-talk-over ;)
I'm not techny enough to help you with any specifics, but I'd definitely get myself some more RAM, 2GB is fine + what you already have.
fohfoh:
I've usually adhered to the 24 day rule with the 1 of 5 splurge rule.
But seriously you're looking at about 1500 MINIMUM if you cheaped out (USD approx) and about 2000 USD if you went decent.

do you understand the difference between HD Ready and HD tv.
HD Ready is an HDTV.
It just doesnt have an HD Tuner built in
which at the very least means its a 720p tv.
What that means to you

read that little bit and this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_television
2nd -- While you may love your sony the fact is unless you plan to spend a good some of money sony products typically are not the best displaying products in their lower and midranged items to most people. I say to most people as the way a display looks good or bad is dependent on the individual and not the specs of a product.
Samsung and sharp have some of the better displaying sets for the bang for your buck factor as far as a mid or low end set. If you get things during holiday sales you can get a very nice tv for hundreds of dollars off. (got my nice 40" samsung for 580$ off normal price for 800$)
From my personal experience I WILL NOT and suggest you DO NOT purchase anything over the internet. My belief behind this is that in the event you find the display not to be to your liking once you get it into your house, find dead pixels, its damage, etc etc. You are able to walk into the store and say FUCK YOU ASSHOLES TAKE IT BACK AND GIMME MY MONEY.
To do so on the internet, expensive shipping back. Expensive insurance on the expensive shipping. Restocking fees if you dont fit their strict guidelines for you to return it. AND last but not least, DEAD PIXEL POLICIES. Dead pixels while much less frequent currently and especially in TVs do happen. Problem being that its usually only a few dead pixels. Dead pixel policies are there to make it a pain in the balls to return your shit if isnt REALLY bad. So they require you to have upwards of 10-15 dead pixels before it can be exchanged.
These policies are meaningless in a store since you can more or less tell them to fuck off and give you your money back.
NaRu:
Never go on price. Build something that you need more then want. Say you want to do (something). What do you need to be able to do it. Find out what it is then go with that. Then also have a good price/performance ratio. Always ask yourself is it worth the $X for X% increase in performance?
