Guild Wars
« on: January 25, 2010, 12:43:03 AM »
With Guild Wars 2 coming somewhat soonish (never soon enough)
I dusted off my old Guild Wars games, i've never beat any of them yet and started up.  Must say I really am enjoying it so far and am coming pretty close to beating the first one.

Anyone else play this?

I hear some of your Guild Wars feats might carry over to GW2! thats kinda neat

Play it if my friend/s play it. Easy as that, we play together in PvP and we own, a 9-win streak. Ya, anyways, that game is boring now.

I play it from time to time. I'm a farmer type of guy. Duo or Solo runs in lots and lots of places. :3 PM me if you want help in any campaign.

I bought it when it first game out I think in 05. It was pretty fun but lonely, oh so lonely :(. I got back into it in around August but then dropped it again xD. I couldn't find any fun people to play with because I suck at making e-friends :((( and when I joined a guild it didn't have very good participation.
If anyone is active here and needs someone with a brain in their head I'll be glad to install it and start playing again :D.

Yeah, I have a few level 20's from when the game first came out. 05ish... I'll probably give GW2 a run through if they ever release it.

Two more missions and i will have finished prophicies!! Lookout Factions here I come.

I mainly started to play this game again at first to kill my Diablo 3 urges, and im really glad i did because the storyline and game itself is a ton of fun!

My assassins name is Roth Lokam if anyones ever in the mood to play look me up.  Like i said i'll be starting factions with my sin very very soon.

I own all three of the games.... and I've completed them as well.

I haven't played recently, so I can expect a big update to happen when I do log on this time around.

I guess I'll have to do that when I get home from work today. My warrior should have a few things to look at when I do. lol

Prophicies, factions, nightfall and Eye of the north, theres actually 4 now!
Not that the last one is extremely new or anything.  But i've played around on it abit and its pretty kickass.

I used to play a lot, but then...  They stopped releasing new content...

Got kinda bored with it.  I still log in once every two weeks or so to see if any of my guildys are on, but they never are :P

(I will admit... I do miss doing FoW, UW, The Deep, and Urgoz runs)

Oops my bad, that is how long it's been since I played.

Eye of the North is pretty nice, especially terrain wise, some very nice scenery. The end game of EotN is hell hard though, you need a team with some serious skills to get past it.

I've done it twice and I didn't enjoy it much either time  :-\

I played for a bit using my brother's account. It was okay. Better then most MMORPGs, but I just couldn't get into it for some reason. I don't know why. I liked the system they used, and it had a story that went somewhere.

My girlfriend is a Guild Wars junkie, you can probably pm her if you want a daungeon run or shit like that.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Is it still worth playing from scratch? I dont need anything right now but if im bored again in a few months I would consider playing it since I have never really played it. If you started now would you still be able to enjoy it or is it not worth bothering with and better to just wait for the new one?

Don't worry about that. You reach level 20 (max level) in like 2 days or less and the maxed out armour is dirt cheap and available early.

The whole concept of Guild Wars is endgame. In fact by the time you leave the "noob" island in 2nd and 3rd expansion, you already have almost max level. During endgame however you can collect crafting materials and money for some fancy ass armour that has exactly the same stats, but costs at least 10 times more because it's made for fashion freaks.

Endgame is usually the dungeons and title hunting (the most idiotic thing ever) and of course PVP. The game also has hard mode just for the better loot.

Its still worthwhile to start up playing, two of my friends did just that.  And as Ace said above getting 20 is no problem at all.  And it hit it on the mark perfectly about the armor.

I mainly picked it backup because of the GW2 trailers and the fact some things may carry over from 1 to 2!

Im glad that i did because im having a lot of fun currently going through the story lines

Cool, I was thinking about picking it up last summer but never got around to it. From this topic it seems like something that might be fun to check out if I have some time. A couple questions about it though, how monotonous is the grinding and how solo friendly is it? I have an odd inability to make online friends and have no patience for groups that take an hour to get ready for a half hour dungeon run (ah  Ascent powered WoW servers).

getting max level takes no time at all, you'll maybe make it 3/4 the way through the first game, prophicies and be max level.  And the game has a henchman system where you can hire npcs to fill the roles of those you dont have in your party

Its pretty cool  ;D

I played Guild Wars for over 3 years.
Did everything I could possibly tho, finished all 4 games with all professions at least once.
Got GWAMM ( 30 max titles ) on my monk
Got her the most expensive armor and weapons in the game.

Now it just got boring....
Most of my friends quit too so I also did.
Might come back when gw2 is around.
