"It's all about utility"

I truly doubt that. Even if you're not a generally trendy person, I have no doubt at times you feel a bit of glee in your heart when you walk around with your Apple product. I admit that Apple products are somewhat trendy. I just hate how EVERYONE has one. Makes it just another bandwagon product.

And yes, I'm happy with Apple stocks increasing. I jumped in at 87 and wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeee.

Does it matter? All that really maters is its selling extremely well. I personally don't have a need for one, but anything that raises the stock price makes me happy :)

Quoted from another forum

dumb people buy apple products.
smart people buy apple stocks.
and everyone is happy.

I got in when it had the dip in Feb of 08, got it for 122. Wish I would have bought it at 87  :P

I wanted to add more at like 95 when it dipped the second time, but I really didn't have the money.

iPad: standard usable components not included

What hilarious is that he basically ended up with something that's underpowered and bulky.

People have been picking up S10-3t's for under $500 for a while now.

As much as I want to say ba ha Apple, it's pretty damn obvious it works in many other companies as well so doing so wouldn't be fair.

all that blog tells me is the guy is a fucking retard. When has apple EVER been known for its massive number of included accessories and the ones that arent including being reasonably priced.

It was obvious that the ipad was an accessory trap

Please, let it stop.  It's a big iPod Touch.  If you want a big iPod touch, you'll probably buy it.  If you don't, it looks like a sad joke.  If you're stupid and easily swayed by fashion trends, you'll waste a bunch of money on it and use it half a dozen times.

The only revolutionary aspect of the device is that it is absolutely the most overhyped product ever made(If only because DNF is deader than Michael Jackson).

I've had people defending it and saying that it's perfect for college students that don't have to lug around a ton of books anymore.

Dude, all through college we've done nothing but documentation, Documentation, *DOCUMENTATION*. How the heck are you supposed to do your reports on an ipad?! When viewing the screen at the optimal angle, your can't type, when typing, you have to lay it flat with you craning your head over it.

If you're gonna say something like "That's what your desktop is for". Dude, i've been a student, $500.00 is nothing to sneeze at! For that $500.00 i can get a touchscreen netbook/tablet that has the same portability, keyboardless interface and all the ports i'll ever need.

(Oh... and it can run uTorrent)

I think the reason for all the hype is that it's consistently getting good reviews, but the reviewers only look at how well it does what it does. The problem is that that's not that much and nobody knows who's actually going to find it useful. It can't run professional programs for business or design and the lack of Flash and any serious hardware kills a lot of entertainment uses. Nobody "needs" it and any useful functions it has are shared by real tablets, the iphone or itouch, or other media players for far cheaper. It's a fashion accessory.

My sis wants one.  She lives on the message boards and does it mostly at work.  She uses her iPhone and has long complained that she wished the screen was bigger, constantly having to zoom in.   But doesn't want to lug a laptop around, though I personally think the iPad would not be less cumbersome than a netbook.

I could explain the technical aspects of it and other options, comparing price and performance ratio; but it will just end up putting her to sleep.  I know she'll end up getting it soon, and will be quite happy about it.  So I don't even bother.  Remembering that it's not for me, and it's simplicity of getting what she wants done with the least amount of hassle makes it perfect for her.

As the iPad is now I will not buy one. It just lacks one important program to be truly useful - Microsoft Office. I know Apple Released iWork for it but iWork is a piece of shit, and thats coming from a Mac user. If Microsoft released a version of Mac Office for this then I will look at it again.

I do like the rumored sales figures, should be good for the stock price next week.

Problem is its a proprietary file format, just like AppleWorks was.  You can't send a iWorks file to anyone else, even other Mac users and expect them to be able to open it.

You can export it as a microsoft word etc file and it works fine as far as I've experienced. Never had a problem. But I work with PDFs more than anything now anyway.

I hate having to export file in different formats, And what about Windows users who have the iPad, how do they access those documents on their PC when there is no iworks for Windows? I just don't see a reason for Apple to develop iWork.

Uh, what? Why would the exporting of files not work for the windows user on the ipad as it does on iwork?

And maybe because using the rival companies programs is never what a company wants to do? :S
