1024x768, and since it's going to run the iPhone OS, it will never play MKVs or OGMs. Ever.

If you want portable media playback, get one of the nVidia Ion netbooks, with CCCP+CoreAVC CUDA you can even play 1080p BDrips easily with low power-consumption on those. They also have HDMI output, which makes them basically portable media centers.

They should have chucked in a mac os instead and name it the mac-pad. The did the air book, so why can't they do a mac-pad?

That's debatable. My jailbroken iPhone currently has both Mplayer and VLC installed, so if the iPad can be jailbroken, they'll run on it as well.

This I agree with wholeheartedly. I would have been extremely happy with this device if it were running a more touch-friendly version (enlarged UI elements) of desktop OS X.

Because future accessories sound better with the i-Name.

iDouche is better than macDouche. (Which I feel McDonalds may already have a claim to)

But remember. Even the mac has an i-Name. iMac

@iindigo: You may hate the kindle, but that thing is popular for the same reason the iPhones and iTouches are popular. The "super selection of media yum yum." (AKA: Book "Apps" - To speak in Apple language) even though it's not compatible worth shit for anything else. If you want compatibility, go Sony or Barnes and Noble has a new one coming out I think (if it's not already out)

True enough. I guess I'm just wanting the iPad to be more directed at college students than kindles and such. To me, paying $500 once is worth never having to buy severely overpriced (I'm sorry, but not a single book on this planet is truly worth $100), heavy-ass, only-used-one-semester textbooks again.
