1200 for a 60" tv? it must be a pretty crappy brand/model.

It's a Mitsubishi DLP. Make of that what you will, but I'm very happy with it.

DLP is the projector models are they not?

They only have about 9,000 hours of life. LCD's are around 70,000 hours now, and plasma are around 15,000 last I checked.

Not exactly. The bulbs only last anywhere from 3000 to 5000 hours, but it's not like the TV is trash when the bulb burns out. They only cost about $100 and are easy to replace. $100 is a lot for a light bulb, but I can buy several years worth of them and still not have spent as much as a similar sized LCD or Plasma would have cost.
