Resolution won't play on PS3

(1/3) > >>

Soul Reaper:
I convert the torrents I download and save them to my PS3 so I can watch them on my TV, but my PS3 won't play videos with 1280x720 resolution.  If I converted it to something like 720x480 (which my PS3 does play), would part of the image be cut off?  If that doesn't work is there anything else I can do?  Thanks.

Carnivus:
Well the PS3 doesn't play .mkv files,so that is a thing to look after. This is the only piece of advice I can give, but I can suggest other methods of watching things on your TV,like the media server or the HDMI cable.

Soul Reaper:
I forgot to say that I convert them to MP4's so that's not a problem.  As for using an hdmi cable, I would if my computer's graphics card had a video-out option but it doesn't.

Carnivus:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3_system_software#Compatible_media_formats this surely can help you,it is a list with compatible media formats for the PS3.
How about the PS3 media server? You can find tutorials on Youtube.

vuzedome:
What type of error are you getting when trying to play the video? Even the PS3 has error messages that points at the exact problem.
