Cable vs ADSL
GoGeTa006:
So. . .Rainy weather lately just pissed me off since my 1.5mbps connection (trough ADSL) dropped down to around 200 kpbs. . .I called the company and they told me that it was probably the weather. . .I told them to go fk themselves and they told me the usual:
-well lets start by resetting your modem and your modem's password. . .
I hung up.
I asked a friend. . .she has the same provider. . .go into 2wire.com and use the speedmeter. . .also around 200kpbs (shes paying for 1mbps)
Another friend paying for 2mbps had 600 kpbs.
I asked a friend who has cable. . .paying for 2mbps he had 1.8 mbps. . .
So i got pissed and now have cable. . .
anyways. . was my anger-decision wrong?
is cable really better than ADSL?
*cause i had cable and switched to ADSL for a reason. .. but i dont remember why (like 4 years ago)
NaRu:
cable is much faster then ADSL but the rain can do the samething to your signal.
Sosseres:
Is Cable faster than VDSL 2? (VDSL2 deteriorates quickly from a theoretical maximum of 250 Mbit/s at 'source' to 100 Mbit/s at 0.5 km (1640 ft) and 50 Mbit/s at 1 km (3280 ft))
At least the cable I can get isn't all that fast (only 25/10 with shitty routing meaning no speed outside of europe). If we are talking fiber it is a totally different thing, at least here.
bcr123:
Neither is "better" they serve different markets.
Where I live ADSL maxes out at 3mbps but cable is available at 50mbps for a similar price so it's a no-brainer however cable isn't available in all locations so some can only get ADSL because the phone lines are everywhere.
Osmo:
CABLE >>> ADSL
Btw you can get people to chip your modem to 10 mg to 20 mg or even 50 mg. It's just like everything else, chipping consoles, torrents etc
