Please don't tell me it's 4 GB or something like that... I have files that are almost 10 GB on me :(

NTFS file size limit is ~16 terabytes (current implementation). The theoretical limit is ~16 exabytes

I think the limitation on Fat 32 (4GB) is also an OS thing. Since NTFS on Vista can do files over 4GB (32bit) but Win XP pro cannot (32bit).
I'm pretty sure because I tried before, but it didn't work. (And somehow I got the over 4GB file onto an external HDD.

It's a hard limitation of the filesystem and has nothing to do with the OS. XP pro 32bit can certainly make use of files larger than 4GB - How else would I play PS2 games with 4 to 8GB ISOs?

If it's not an SSD or flashdrive use NTFS.

One serious reason to buy an SSD would be to install the operating system on it and anything other than NTFS for windows would probably not be meaningful. Are you certain?
Is it something to do with TRIM support?
[edit] now that I think of it, you should not be able to install windows on a non-NTFS volume

[edit]Looked it up, Windows can only be installed to NTFS. It's recommended you turn on write caching and turn off last access.

I'm pretty sure 7 does that by default with SSDs.

Hmm... that's really weird then. Maybe my file server is just being temperamental?
