Sony MediaGo - Installing it without Quicktime (possible?)
(1/1)
DaggerLite:
My situation...
So, I would like to install MediaGo for my PSP on my laptop, but the default installation package always tries to install Quicktime. If I cancel Quicktime install, the MediaGo installation will close down. I use Quicktime Alternative, and I don't want to install Quicktime at all on this fresh OS, since it adds all kinds of crap I tell it not to add, and I find it impossible to remove completely. I've tried launching the separate MediaGo components by themselves, which worked fine for the most part, but the actual MediaGo interface can only be installed through the package installer it seems.
I have MediaGo on my desktop and I've uninstalled Quicktime there. MediaGo runs perfectly without it, so I guess it's just needed for encoding and perhaps viewing films, which I never do. I just manage my PSP with it.
What I'm looking for...
Does anyone know of a way to install MediaGo without Quicktime (perhaps through a modded and safe installation floating around), or some program that will completely remove Quicktime (not generic CCleaner or similar, but something designed to remove Quicktime/Apple stuff). I've searched around a bit on various forums (Google), but I seem unable to find anything like what I'm after.
I don't really expect a solution here, but it would be nice if someone knows about this stuff. Perhaps my only hope is to complain directly to Sony, though I doubt that'll do much either.

Find the version you installed on your desktop and use that.

Hmm, I could try that, but I'm a bit sceptical. I'll try it out later on if there's no other plausible solution.
In addition to Quicktime, I would think the installer makes some other changes to the system registry. These are the ones behind SecuROM after all. Also, the desktop is running XP and the laptop is running Win7.
