Card Captor Sakura 960p by DmonHiro
« on: February 25, 2010, 09:56:36 AM »
Alright, I have a 720p for CCS by DmonHiro. It's 18 GB, and I just got my new internet, so if you guys want it, you can have it. Only the first 20 episodes of this were uploaded by DmonHiro. I guess it was a pain to upload them so he stopped, since he was doing them for me anyway. Here are some screen shots from episode 16, one of my favorites.

I also have a very rare HD version of the second movie, The Sealed Card. It's in Divx, only 50% larger filesize then the current best version on BakaBT. But, it has 5.1 sound, a big step up from 128 kbps mp3 or 96 kbps vorbis on the current versions. The only problem is it's "letterboxed". I think it can be fixed by cropping it, but reencoding it would reduce the quality, and I'm not willing to do it. This one's more of a "take it or leave it".

If you look at this forum thread (mainly pages 3 and 4) you'll see some (720p) comparisons of CCS. How well does the DmonHiro release compare?

How would I know? Tell me what the best screenshots from that thread were, and what episode, frame, and I'll make some comps.

Ok, perhaps I was wrong to assume you would've seen that thread since you're a Sakura enthusiast... ;)

It seems this particular post is the one with the best overview, though no exact times are given.

Then why are you stating '720p' in the title of this thread? :-\...

Good point. I guess cause I'm only used to 1080p or 720p. But those only apply for 16/9.

What would you call 1440x1080 then?

I don't particularly like the styling in this one, but the truth is, the other groups may take years to finish. I think it's a good option.

Though for the movie, no.

i means interlaced. In other words, it contains images such as http://i48.tinypic.com/24oyh7c.png in the stream.

p is progressive, meaning those types of images don't exist.

It looks rather blocky and smooth, so I vote no.

Baka, I wasn't asking what 1080i means. I was answering the question: What do you call 1440x1080.

Right. But calling 1440x1080 as 1080i is wrong. iirc, Sakura was progressive on BD, so it's 1080p.

That's why I put the question mark.  ;)

The "1080p" notation only refers to the vertical resolution so both 1920x1080 and 1440x1080 progressive are called 1080p, and likewise for other resolutions.

I don't have time stamps for the comparison screens I posted in the other thread, but all of them are from the first episode. Those scenes should be easy enough to find by skimming through it.
